Practically Perfect Mold Deluxe Drift

Don't you hate it when you get a new transformer in vehicle mode and it is transformed and placed in it perfectly? Well love to hate it lol. I picked myself up Drift at my local Target during work today. I chose carefully among the 3 drifts that were there. I am very picky about my transformers :P

After I got home and opened the package, I noticed that this particular Drift is practically a perfect mold vehicle mode. What I mean by this is that everything on it fits perfectly and it really does seem like a regular toy car. The windows are crystal clear, the wheels turn very quietly, the paint matches on the sides and even the windshield is perfectly aligned on all sides. I just cant bring myself to transform it. He rolls quite effortlessly across my desk, and feels really solid.

I am afraid I might have to get a second drift. (oh no what a horrible fate that has befallen me! xD) I know if I try to transform him to robot then back to car it is not going to look as good as it does now. :-(

Anyone else ever get a Transformer that you couldn't bring yourself to transform and had to get another?

I will post better pictures when there is more favorable lighting (tomorrow morning-ish :P)

I've never been reluctant to transform a TF, they're just too much fun! ;)

yeah, neither am I unless its quite a rare one. The problem is that I get OCD if I can't transform them back to the way they were or what they are supposed to look like x( So it sucks

I have transformed mine back and forth a couple times now, and he seems to have no fit issues at all. I wouldn't worry too much.

I'm in a similar situation with the FansProject Bruticus add-ons. I want the combined mode for Bruticus, but I also want Swindle and Blast-off in bot mode. So I pre-ordered two sets.

Hey man, I see you have Soul Silver. Let me know if you want to battle some time :)

I felt the same way when I opened my Drift. I eventually transformed him and now I like the robot mode too much. I can't decide how to display him.. Battle Blade Bumblebee I have the same problem.

Not seen it happen. You'll have to think of something interesting to edit in!

Sideswipe00, I've never had your problem because I know I'll manage to fit it back together one day! Some figures take a lot of practise to get them fitting together in alt mode (Alternators Wheeljack is notorious).

I'm actually not a huge fan, mostly because Drift th character is a bit of a Gary Stu (and thus annoys me), and the toy isn't articulated as it could be.

Arms straight out to the sides? Can't do it.

ACK! no! now you got me thinking about that xD lol, I could only afford one blast off atm actually; considering I also ordered comic con blaster, mighty muggs prowl, masterpiece grimlock, Classics Hot Rod and I bought myself Drift, TFU Insecticons (found them at TRU on 110 in NY!) and Cybertronian Optimus Prime. So kinda low on TF funds atm XD :P

no worries really, Drift has a suprisingly tight transformation. Nearly every part clicks into place quite satisfyingly(is that a word?)

I've transformed mine several times and he changes modes beautifully. Be warned though-his legs are held very tightly together.

Isn't that the reason some people buy two sets? One for display, never open and never want to touch it and another one for play/transforming? Go ahead to buy another one if you fell like it (since Target has pretty good price now), or just don't bother transform him. He is nice to play around in both mode.

I just opened mine a few hours ago and I have to say: Sideswipe00, if you aren't transforming it you're missing out! I tranformed him a few times then utterly failed suddenly. It turns out the knee spikes go inside the calf plate where it had happened naturally before I started having to do it manually. No that's sorted the transformation is quite simple and satisfying.

Tiny warning, I'm in a bad mood so what I'm about to say may come off as a little bit rude. With that out of the way, anyone who buys a Transformer and doesn't transform it needs to see a shrink.

I honestly feel like Drift is one of the best molds hasbro has ever created. I mean everything about this guy is awesome..I have 2 and keep one in robot mode and the other in alt. Much like how universe Cyclonus felt. I mean if there is such a thing as perfection I think Drift is damn close to it...

This post... disturbs me a little.

Yes, he's got a nice looking bot mode. But his vehicle mode, while its seams are hard to spot thanks to the overall white color, isn't perfect - it feels too "heavy" to be a good sports car, and too "riced out" to be a good muscle car.

And tell me this... can it hold its arms straight out to the side? Nope. Those shoulders hinder articulation more than I would like.

Good mold? Definitely. Absolutely yes.

Best ever created? Absolutely NOT.

How many transformers do you pose with the arms straight out to the sides?

That's why I said
Drift is one of the best molds hasbro has ever created

I think it's safe to say that there isn't a single "Greatest mold of all time". Or at least not one a majority would agree on because let's face it, Not all transformer fans think alike...

If you can't decided how to display it, do this:
Display it in alt mode.
Next time you pass it, transform it and display in bot mode.

Next time you pass it, transform it and display in car mode.

Next time you pass it, transform it and display in bot mode.

Next time you pass it, transform it and display in car mode.

Get the idea? Have fun transforming it!!!

A lot. MP Prime and Seekers. Classics Primes. ROTF Leader Megatron and Brawl. RiD Prime and Megatron. I'm not going to name any more but there are a lot!

I totally know what you mean! I bought an extra Henkei! Megatron.

Let's just say I have 8 Classics/Uni Primes...
oh and extra Drift ofcourse. I was thinking of painting/removing the paint apps- to make it less Ricer but I can't get myself to do anything non official to him. I can't wait for Blurr!
