PCC Huffer - A Conundrum

So far I've only bought 1 PCC, Searchlight. I was originally going to skip the line entirely, but got him because I needed a fix. He's pretty great, so I don't regret it, although the Minicon is pretty lame. Most of the Minicons in this line are pretty lame. In fact, I've never been a big fan of Minicons, the only ones I own came with larger figures. And I don't even really have a place to display PCCs.

So here's the thing... Huffer's minicon, Caliburst, actually looks really awesome. I kinda want them just for Caliburst. I was sort of interested in Huffer, but he's a little meh. Plus if I buy him, since I'm an homage collector, I have to go find the G1 version and the Botcon version, and so on. It's just the way my collection works. It would be cool if I wasn't on a tight budget, but I don't care too much about Huffer's character.

Also, I'm worried that if I start buying Minicons now, it'll be like some sort of terrible gateway drug and open a whole Pandora's Box of wallet hurt.

Someone tell me what to do.

Just because you pick up one figure doesn't mean you're obligated to pick up an entire set. You could always keep Caliburst and box huffer.

But if you think it'll make you start buying toys you don't really want like crazy, then I guess it's a bad idea to buy him. It's not like Caliburst can be held in someone's hand, he relies on a Minicon port to work.

Caliburst requires a male port to be held, not to "work". I assume you mean transform by that. He can be held by his feet though, they have a male port on them. Although good advice there. You just gotta get a handle on that niggle in your head that demands you do things. It really is an unnecessary stress. I'm enjoying the first three 2 packs a bunch and I'm not really a Mini-Con fan either. The transparent colors work for me though.

Those of us who collect the PCC will agree with you on Gasex being a lame Minicon. His armor mode is good, though.

As for Huffer and Caliburst, just get them and call Huffer by a different name or something. After all, this Huffer is a different type of truck than the other two(three if you count Shattered Glass) I do agree about Caliburst, though. He really works in all four of his modes, and fits Huffer's vehicle mode nicely.

Thanks, but I don't really care for Windburn's color scheme, and since I already have Searchlight it would make even less sense to purchase him.

I actually don't mind that Huffer is a different type of truck, and the homage works well enough, but overall I think his vehicle mode is quite a bit better than his bot mode. Id don't really care for his legs much, and the aesthetic seems more movieverse than anything else.

And that's a good point, he can't be held by other figures without a male Minicon port.

I still don't know... Maybe I just need to get over the compulsion of 'Once I buy one Huffer, I have to buy them all'. It's not like I dislike them, I just don't want the stress of tracking them down, especially the Botcon version. I guess I could just add them to my backlog of figures to buy that I will probably never get around to.

I was going to skip this line as well but after getting Huffer and Smolder i quickly went out and got Sledge, Leadfoot and Icepick..I havent seen searchlight in my area yet but Im sure I'll get him too..I hear he makes a better centerpeice for the Arielbots anyway.

As for the minicons I like em..I actually find that they plug into quite a few different bots and some of their weapon modes are pretty damn cool.. Thinking about picking up the rallybots today!

Actually, Caliburn himself has a male port on each leg, which act nicely as 5mm handles and let him be held by nearly any figure.

i got huffer and to be honest hes the only one i knew i was going to get out of this line. Smolder looks nice enough that im considering him, and the fact that his minicon becomes an orange translucent axe gets me thinking about who else i can pair it with

As a Minicon, Caliburst is one of the better ones in the PCC line up IMO. Huffer is pretty fun figure too. He does have a very simple transformation but he hides the blue connector ports very well. IMO Huffer is better than Searchlight. If you still don't want Huffer, maybe you can find somebody here that does and doesn't want the Minicon.

Hate to break it to ya, but if you actually find someone to sell you just their drones (which is rather unlikely to begin with,) by the time you pay for shipping you're probably going to be right back at what it would cost to just go buy an entire set.

If you want a deal, you'll probably have to land set off eBay that goes for cheap or wait and hope for a clearance at the store.

I decided against it.. I was looking at it a bit more closely and I set it back down, too much 3rd party hysteria right now..

I have no interest in the PCC figures, but I considered getting Huffer for my Classics collection. But after seeing it in person, it just doesn't look enough like Huffer to me. It actually reminds me more of Micromaster Powertrain. Calling him by that name could solve your problem.
