What are the differences between the Bot Con version that came out a few years ago and this newer one?

Were people pissed off when Thrust was announced as part of the Generation line?

The Wings are molded differently. Wile the Botcon version has the VTOL fans built into the wings, the subsequent Henkei version and the Generations version, which uses the Henkei mold, have them as separate removable pieces.

Also the Paint schemes are quite different.

Also the Missiles that come with Generations and Henkei are the thinner Starscream style missiles, while the Botcon Thrust uses the thicker Ramjet versions.

Are you looking to star a flame war? This is a very sensitive topic, and people tend to overreact. Please no.

Not at all, I was just curious. I know when the Bot Con set was first released there were a lot of people who were upset they wouldn't be able to make a complete set of Universe seekers and Hasbro said they would not re-release the Bot Con exclusives. I only bought a few of the animated/first movie toys and none of the second movie toys so I have been absent from the board for awhile and wasn't around when Generations Thrust first came out.

Thanks for the info/pics though.

I just noticed that the wings of Generations Thrust are, in fact, different from those of Henkei Thrust. Look on the forward wings near the fuselage - Generations has two small vents that Henkei doesn't have.

Same mold, just flipped. Look at these back sides:

Re-releasing BotCon exclusives, especially those with new toolings is impossible, since not only would it decrease collective value, but the toolings specially made for the convention are destroyed after production to prevent piracy.

Well doesn't Botcon either do a straight repaint, or a remold and not a retool. If you look at the GoD boxset Dirge, BugBite and Thundercracker were no more than repaints, so why would the destroy tools when the three in question are the same tooling as Hasbro's, just repainted.

What would they destroy exactly?

Now the remold would be Thurst, Dreadwind, and also from the convention Alpha Trion. I could see those tools being destroyed because they are different than the original Hasbro mold and for collectors purposes not be dupilcated.

Don't want to start anything because we have been down this road before, but I want to point out that the only thing I see feasibly being destroyed is the remold, but the repaints, no.

I said, molds specially made for the conventions, like new heads or in this case, wings. They're separate from the regular molds.

Is o.k, just people get sensitive about this. Henkei really caused a stir when they came out. But since they were rather hard to get and expensive too, the issue was somewhat sidestepped.

Anyway, and as Rabbit points out,the Wings on Generations are them same as the Henkei just side flipped to show the extra molding in jet mode above the wings instead of under.

As for Botcon, if only repaints are done, then no molds are destroyed. However as also Rabbit points out, if there are new heads, or new moldings like Thrust's Exclusive Wings, those are the molds that get destroyed.

Dirge is coming out for Generations, with the retooled wings from the Henkei version. While Thundercracker is still unknown.

i think for thundercracker we are probably better off just grabbing an extra seeker mold (acid storm is the best canidate for this) and paint him ourselves if hasbro makes him, awsome. if not we got ourselves covered. i think they can though, the botcon one was deco'ed to be a near mirror image of the G1 toy, so if they deviate from the original like they have with past classics it should be different enough to still make the botcon version feel special

This is one of Many reasons I wish they'd sell "Blank" seekers on Hasbro Toy Shop.

I own the Botcon version and the Generations version. Am I pissed that other people can finally get the character for their Classics collections? Not even slightly. I really don't care. If anything, I'm happy about it. People bitch too much about things that don't matter at all.

If you can't paint (like me) just buy a KO "thundercracker" and a KO "skywarp" and do a parts swap. Took me about 20 minutes.

Yeah, not bad for 35 bucks (they were cheaper when they first came out)

Nooooo!!!! My chances for a G1 color Gen. Breakdown have just been decimated!

That's me, the destroyer of idle hope. But the hope for a Generations Breakdown is not all that idle. The BotCon one's head is based on the original toy, but the cartoon & comic one is a bit different:
