Someone please tell me Classics is coming back!

Really sorry if this is seriously old news (somehow I think it is). I just got back into collecting Tf's again and am absolutely in love with the Classics line. Is this line through already?
Again sorry if this is worn out already; I checked old threads and might have missed anything related.

No its done unfortunately and we get a post a day asking if its coming back. I wish it would but it doesn't look likely. And with all the quality control issues with the movie line, maybe its for the best!

Well thats a shame. im sure these product issues wouldn't be happening if Takara were making these toys.

Well if you are just getting back, I'm going to assume that you do not know that the final batch of Classics will be the Botcon Exclusives. They are all sold out, but you should be able to grab them off ebay in a month.

And THAT will be the official end.

you may have to sell a kidney to pay for the botcon classics though...

lol, prolly not so bad. If you want all of them, probably like $500-600.

Hasbro's gonna put everything into the movie and make it their cash cow. Hopefully the new TV series will be making some decent stuff.

Till then it's online trading and garage sales. ;;)

Oh, its a lot of cash regardless of how much one makes for a couple of toys. However, didn't wanna scare the new guy off thining he'd need thousands. ;-)

HA! :)) Man are you out of luck. The Classics were just a filler line for us collectors. The Botcon set is the last of it. Your only hope is that Hasbro suprises us at this year's Botcon and says Classiscs are continuing. Which isn't likely!

lol...scared? Somewhat. Disheartened? Very much, but still back in the overall hunt. That's too bad about this line though, man; had all these hopes to see Classics-line takes on Jazz, Prowl and Sideswipe. Sigh...well, one can dream I suppose. Thanks for the responses all!

Have you looked into kitbashing your own? Theres someone working on a Jazz kitbash on the fan artwork forum here. I'd imagine sideswipe and sunstreaker would be very doable from Hot Rod. Smokescreen from the Cybertron line, along with Botcon Ironhide and Ratchet, Arcee, Downshift, Scorponok, Alpha Quintesson etc from Energon all work really well with the Classics line. I saw a pretty nice kitbash of silverstreak and prowl from Cyb. Smokescreen somewhere.

I'm still thinking that the line will return. There has yet been any kind of confirmation that the line is dead or if the line will continue. If anything, it's a waiting game. We will know more of EVERYTHING come Botcon.

Why would it return? After the movie there's going to be a new cartoon with a toyline. They're not going to a toyline for the new cartoon and Classics at the same time, that makes no sense.

It makes sense if Hasbro can make money off it. The classics line did very well and Hasbro has been recently working 3 TF lines at a time while the lines are selling well.
We sometimes forget as collectors that Hasbro's number 1 goal is to make money off us. I bet we haven't seen the last of the classics.

agreed. IMO, its going to be determined on how well the movie toys will sell. if they bomb, hasbro wont have much more of a choice than to go back to what got their numbers higher. look at the exclusives... botcon has NEVER sold out of figures and this year they have. even if the classic line stops hitting major stores, you can almost guarantee that SOME sort of figure will hit the next botcon...

I think they might have a chance at making a comeback. I'm not going to say that if the movie line flops then they'll be back, but if we want to talk about lines with short lived production value any movie line is like that, except Star Wars.
I think unfortuantely we really do need to wait for the Botcon announcements to come out, because otherwise what lines are we looking at having post movie? Alternators seems to be petering out, the Classics would be done and the movie line will be finished. So what would we be left with? Titaniums? I like those figures but they are not a major line, being only released in pairs like they have been. The new cartoon sure, but then even with Titaniums that's only two lines, and I think Hasbro would be making a mistake with only those, becuase while we as collectors might like the Titaniums I can't imagine they're really that popular with the kids. I could see the FAB movie contingent being applied to a larger character base, but that kind of leaves us out as collectors, becuase those are obviously ment for kids. The opposite is true for the Alternators if they continue, and what would be get from that in reality? A Frenzy repaint, and possibly a Steeljaw from Rumble and Ravage. Maybe an Ironhide/Ratchet from Skids?
The movie toys again have a limited shelf life, even if they Leader-classed everything, it will be old real quick. Even if Classics was a filler line, it sold pretty well, and the Botcon set bonanza was incredible. Does Hasbro have any G1 reissue plans, or is Encore going to supplant that and reissue figures we got reissued three years ago?
I guess my point is this: if Hasbro is going to ditch everything for the sake of the movie line now and the new series in the fall, then we have a very bleak outlook in terms of collecting options. Or hell, even just of buying Transformer toys. If they spun off Real Gear or the Robot Heroes from the movie forever, they will grow pointless fast, like the 3" Titaniums. There has to be something else that comes along, be it a continuation of Classics or another ancillary line like the Titaniums or something entirely different. They can't repaint movie toys for the next two years, so I remain longwindedly optimistic.

Thank you, thank you all for listening to my disertation.

I liked the larger words peppered throughout and hope the optimism pays off. I found Classics to be quite enjoyable.

You guys make some good points but in all honesty how long do you think Hasbro can keep multiple TF line going simultaneously? I remember back during Beast Wars and Beast Machines there were just those lines. It wasn't until the Unicron Trilogy that we started getting all of these sub lines. Universe has already kicked the can, Alternators certainly didn't seem to be doing too well before the "hiatus", Titaniums seem to be doing alright but that's a fairly small line.

Hopefully the movie will make the property even more viable but there's a good chance with all of the movie merchandising/advertising/tie-ins there's going to be major TF oversaturation. Come this fall the average consumer might be Transformered out, that might be a good time for Hasbro to go back to concentrating on one line.

Great point. I wish Classics was coming back (who doesn't?) but I think the Titanium 6" line will turn into "Classics 2". We already know there's supposed to be a new Cosmos, an Arcee, and a Shockwave for the line. And it makes sense, since the collector/older fan market is smaller, and they can afford to press fewer and sell at higher prices to meet our demands.

Now all they have to do is start shipping Titaniums to stores on a regular basis.
