I've never seen this before. Is this for real? And if it is, is it rare?

That is the collector's club exclusive released a few years ago. Not too rare and not too desired. Currently you can get this AT and it's partner exclusive that year, Air Razor, for $65 for the pair together... if you are a member.

OK. Because it just looks like a straight repaint of Armada Jetfire, which means it's not even a triplechanger. I do like the paint scheme though. Thanks.

It gets a bad rap but I bought both this and Airrazor and I am very satisfied with them. The only problem I have is that Astrotrain doesn't really fit in with other lines.

It avoids being a straight repaint by having a new head sculpt, but... A lot of people hate the new head sculpt. :BANG_HEAD:

I like the figure and use it as my classics Astrotrain.

I really like mine, he hangs out with my Armada seekers when they're not in storage. The big Destron symbol is moulded on if memory serves so the head isn't the only remould for this release.

And he is a triple changer, he's got a 'pants' mode for Armada Prime!

LOL, that doesn't really count. :P I was thinking like a train a la G1...

The one on his back is painted on, the one on his shield (if it exists) is molded.

I always sorta wanted this one, but not enough to join the club or pay aftermarket prices.

That's exactly what it is. But it's a SWEET repaint, if you ask me! I've always been tempted to get it, but not for what it costs. Even the current deal where you get it with Air Razor for $65 isn't cheap enough to make me take the bait. IF I could get it for $30 or $40 on its own, I would.

It's a nice figure, and it stands prudly on my shelves.

I like the head mold, but only because I call it something other than Astrotrain.

You call him Spacewarp?

Its a pretty decent mold, and if you just can't stand calling him Astrotrain and not have the train mode you can call him Spacewarp instead. Spacewarp is the name originally intended for the never produced purple and gray repaint of Armada Jetfire for the Universe line from which TFCC based this exclusive.

If you buy it from the TFCC at 65 bucks its a steal, since it comes with Airazor. Of course only if you are a member.

I'm still waiting for BBTS to clearance theirs under 80 bucks at least.

it would be rarer(is that an actual word) if it was a Spacewarp prototype

..Yeah rare(r) as in that's something that not too few people have, basically a Lucky Draw that I'd probably do stupid things to obtain. Or I could get an extra Astrotrain.. paint it up and top it off with a junkor Jetfire head.
