I don't think it's a Transformer. Just a transforming robot.

- no mention of Takara
- no faction symbols
- no rub sign
- I can't find it through Transformerland or TFU

It looks like a Go-Bot, not a Transformer... other than that, no clue.

I'll bet it's a Converter:

http://www.toyarchive.com/Convertors/MiniBots.html

No, there's no picture there for "Bird", but considering it's a Firebird car, there's a strong possibility that's what it is.

Also, the transformation/molding seems consistent with the other figures from the line. Also, I see a hint of Die-cast, and I have Vette, which also features Die-cast. Based on the one figure I have, it's a very quality figure, surprising for a generic toy line.

The description also notes "his colors help hide him", further adding to the evidence.

Looks like that's what you got, Darkthunder

Actually I missed the Convertors line because they did Macross, Orguss, and other anime lines as toys and they never were cheap knockoffs. They were pretty strudy too. But the prices were decent for a 12 year old that ran errands for change in 1985.

those converter things are interesting.

My store actually has KOs of the Avarians, and I've been curious what they were from.

I am willing to bet that it is the "Bird" converters.

Cool, I never knew about these. Notice how Vette has the same colors as Rapido?

These guys? http://counter-x.net/footnotes/convert-a-bots/index.html

While not a bad theory, there's a link on this page to....

http://counter-x.net/convertors/reviews/bird.html

Bird! From Converters! Cool, I was right :D .

But in truth, "Convert-A-Bots" also used figures taken from Converters, which were previously used by a company called "Mark", and their Robo Car line:

Counter-X has some awsome information. They must've updated since the last time I was there.
