Ideas for a reasonable "classics" Kup

Ok, what transformer (from the past few years) best pays homage to classic Kup.. I want to fill his spot on my shelf and want a TF that resembles him as best as can be resembled.
(I do not have the scratch for the botcon Kup).
My most recent thought was TFA Ironhide.. Yeah he is red, but his body style is similar to Kups. Also the cybertronian TFA Prime is a candidate..
Any ideas?

If youre patient you won't have to repurpose anybody.
Still ... Brakedown GTS is small, but he's a reasonable Kup. Not very satisfying, IMHO, but if you just want to fill the spot he'll do.

I had him in the spot and he just was too small for my tastes.. I am patient (waiting on Hasbro or a 3rd party company to make one)..

Hasbro has mentioned a Generations Kup in the works. Nothing concrete yet I'm afraid.

Let see, you could use Energon repaint of Armada Red Alert:
http://www.tfu.info/2004/Autobot/SamsProwl/prowl.htmCybertron Burhguard maybe:

ROTF Blowpipe (if only for the vehicle mode)

The closest thing to Botcon Kup, without having the Botcon price: Movie Crankcase

and finally ROTF Scattorshot

Hmmm. forgot about Crankcase. Thats a good stand-in. A Generations Kup could be cool. I have the 09 set but imma keep it MIB so I can't display Kup.

Botcon Kup doesn't go for much these days y'know, he's not as sought after as other botcon figures.
Apart from that, I'd really just wait and see what generations offers. Might be your best bet.

There was a custom on eBay that used the Cybertronian Animated Prime. They painted in the chest and remolded the head. The paint job was OK, but it conveyed an almost IDW-style Kup quite well.
I do like the headsculpt for the Botcon version, but I have Cannonball and Red Alert already which means one would have to go for me to get him as Kup. Another reason why I held off on him was the head sculpt made him look younger, not old and grim like we know him. For some reason, I prefer Cybertron Breakdown to the GTS repaint as a stand in for Kup, or a character that can pass for being old.
I wouldn't mind a generations Kup to go with Blurr.

Have you considered the TF1 Longarm mould?
If you remove the weapon/hoist and phil d gap with some paneling I suspect you might be content. You could use sculpting material or model car parts to shape out the vehicle body any further to resemble the original.
You'll need a full head swap, tho, but the Longarm head is brilliant for a headswap elsewhere.
I'll tell you about a paint I use, which is not really the Kup color but one that I use often for Cybertron or G2 skins: Pelican Brand, Prisma color line, Violett/Grun (Violet/Green) or Blau/Turkis (Blue/turquoise).
Both are two-tone metallic paints, water based, and I trust the company. Looking at them again, I doubt you'll use them, but I'll still mention them anyway.
PS: I agree that waiting for a Hasbro release will propably yield.

I'm waiting for Hasbro's Generations Kup. I just hope it doesn't deviate too far from his G1 design.
The Neo-G1 cast are the only characters I want to be as accurate as possible. FP has pulled that off. IT did too.
Hasbro's Classics Rodimus and Universe Cyclonus are excellent examples of staying true while updating.
Kup deserves that treatment.
And so do we.

If you use Crankcase, who becomes Classics Crankcase then?

Great ideas everyone, thanks for the input. I did have Cybertron Breakdown displayed but he is so small..
I do agree that waiting for a Hasbro generations fig may be the best thing, but it would most likely be mid-late next year (if even).
I did see the custom made from TFA cyb Prime.. That one was nice.

Nice observation. Brushguard would make a good movie-verse Kup

In alt mode and color only. The rest, not so Kupp-ish.

I nabbed a TFA Optimus in Cybertron mode... I figure I may repaint him as he is pretty close to what Kup should look like.
