The Takara Tomy Buster Prime and Jetfire pack just arrived. They are amazing looking...but I'm so torn as to weather or not I should open it. I have a shelf they would go on but theres just such a good feeling you get about having them NIB. I also have a single Buster Prime still NIB I may sell.

Advise? Thoughts?

I agree. I can't leave TF'S in a box unless its a Botcon set or some super special figure that I have one open of already. I say open and enjoy as well!

I think it depends: If you're like me, and you rarely play with the movie toys, then don't. If you do play with the movie toys a lot, then go ahead. I'm not a big fan of the movies, so I rarely, if ever, play with the main characters. However, for the rest that didn't make it to the movies, I put them up with my classics collection filling gaps where needed.

Open it. Free them from their cardboard prison!

Thanks for all the quick replies...I'm crossed between being a collector (and keeping the value up) while also enjoying being able to pose them; maybe transform them once or twice and then pose them on my shelf. lol But I don't really have many toys I've collected but like I said, I like to collect things, generally speaking.

For example, I used to collect comic books, I always buy and usually dont sell my video games, used to collect cards...I just have the newer movie transformers and just love to look and admire them.

So there in lies my dilemma. lol

Open em' up play with em' and hold onto the box. When your done, box them back up, they will just be MIB rather than MISB.

I would personally open it....there's no way I'd spend money on a toy only to stare at it forever....

MOSC = Mint On Sealed Card
MOOC = Mint On Opened Card

AFA = Action Figure Authority certified or capable (meaning it's worth a pretty penny or can fetch some)

As for opening or displaying sealed: Open them. You'll enjoy them very much. The combination form isn't much to write home about, but their individual bot modes (especially Prime's) are great. The vehicle modes are fantastic. Granted, Jetfire's is a Blackbird SR-71 with a folded up robot underneath the shell, but from the top, it looks amazing and he's MASSIVE. Geez louise is he huge.

If I collected Botcon items, I'd open them up.
I open exclusive items such as the Seacons.
I open mass retail.
I open FP and other 3rd party stuff.
I wouldn't open a Lucky Draw if I ever got one. No way, no how. THAT? That should remain sealed and appreciated.

The rest? Open them suckers up and play with them. They're begging you to. Pleading.

I was about to say I would open any Transformer I owned, even if it was a mint, sealed G1, because they are meant to be played with and enjoyed, but then, I wouldn't open a Lucky Draw either. I'd promptly sell the thing and buy a zillion other Transformers with the profits. Come to think of it, I'd probably sell any MISB G1s I had and either replace them with Reissue or Loose versions. More bang for my buck.

My thoughts exactly. I would sell off a MISB G1 in heartbeat and use the proceeds to buy a loose complete replacement plus others. However, I would warn against opening a MISB G1 and attempting to apply the decals. I tried to apply the decals to my Skygarry after I opened him and they failed almost completely. To make matters worse Reprolabels doesn't make a replacement set. I've made the suggestion to them, but so far no luck.

Ah, these kind of questions again? My answer is always the same, open them, transform them, combine them, enjoy them. Only using your eyes to enjoy Transformers is not fair, your hands need to involve also.

Half my collection still is MISB kinda got behind on opening some of my stuff.Maybe this winter I'll get to a few of them, but sometimes its nice to leave a few MISB kinda looks nice.

I can't speak for the Japanese versions, but I don't think most the movie figs are really going to gain much in value anyhow. However, if you bought it only to sell it later, keep it sealed...it'll always be worth more MISB. But if you want to enjoy it, then open it.

I'd say just go with whatever gives you the better feeling; that's how I make all my decisions with toy collecting, and it always works!

The clue is in the name of the toys: TRANSFORMERS. You can't transform them if they're in the box!

wellI myself am a collector who likes his toys out of the box so I'm going with the open it option after all what good are toys locked up in boxes anyway

I think being a collector isn't about keeping value up, as that's more of being a seller/investor.

I consider myself a collector, yet I have all my transformers out of box. I try and keep them in as best of condition as I can. I don't have any intention of selling them, and know if I did, I'd regret it. They are part of my childhood, especially since they came out in 1984 (year I was born).

If you care more about value, keep it in box . If you care more about how awesome and fun transformers are, open it .

It was said already; If you plan to sell TFs, keep them in the box. Otherwise, open them.
