So we now have Hot Rod/Rodimus Prime in all his glory coming our way early next year, but who will be the next Transformers charatcter to get the Masterpiece treatment?

I think that a repaint of Rodimus into Nemesis/Shattered Glass colours is inevitable, and I've heard a lot of rumours that Soundwave will be the next new mold which would give us an inevitable Blaster repaint - how awesome would that be?

WIth the movie coming out next year it would be the perfect time for Takara Tomy to give us the Shockwave character we have all wanted for years. We said the same with Devastator when the last movie came out and were bitterly disappointed with what we got. The G1 mold seems like a big long shot for a reissue and with Shockwave's popularity, a Masterpiece would be perfect to fill the gap and capitalize on the extra attention that the character will get in the movie (just hope we don't get another Bayformers masterpiece).

The other logical choice would be Galvatron. He's never had a figure that really did him justice in my opinion and with this being Transformers 2010 he I would put money on him being next (a re-tooling of Megatron?) if I hadn't heard all the Soundwave talk.

Finally, it seems that they are wisely waiting a while to make the Conhead seekers to avoid seeker overload.

I know that this issue has been brought up before in other topicx/threads etc but.....What does everyone else think?

And I was betting with a friend of mine on how long it would be before the first of these threads was out on the forums here. Looks like I owe him five bucks.

I would say that Soundwave is quite plausible, although I wonder how intracate the ingineering will be concerning his altmode. Maybe it will have working electronics or something.

I'm hoping for Galvatron personally. I've shy'd away from MP figs that aren't the iconic leaders.

Galvatron would be good (not as a Megatron repaint or remold...a whole new toy!) or maybe Soundwave (he's plenty iconic) who could be repainted into Soundblaster and possibly Death Mode/Sleepy Time Soundwave, or maybe a white and blue deco echoing the Music Label version. Actually, probably both. Galvy could have his cartoon colours, toy colours and maybe a Lava variant. Maybe even a red sparkly version as a "Unicron Tortured" variant? I'm actually wondering if a Beast Wars MP would go down well? MP Barney Megatron? Or one of the Transmetal variations on the leaders?

I didn't think of that - Soundblaster! That would make perfect sense as a repaint. As another member pointed out to me, it might take a lot of retooling of the mold to make Soundwave into Blaster but if they do make Soundwave I'll be pining for Blaster.

Me too. Galvatron done right as a Masterpiece is probably my most wanted figure. I would hope that he would be in purple, like the movie. HIs repaint could be the G1 grey version.
His popularity in Japan will hopefully Takara Tomy and after they made Rodimus it just wouldn't be right not to make Galvatron too!

I'd say they already HAVE made masterpiece Soundwave - Music Label Soundwave!

Okay, he's not as big as the others, but he's magnificently articulated, has interchangeable hands, and is a fully working MP3 player!

A scarlet red, 1984 Lamborghini Countach Sideswipe....that would be the most perfect and beautiful thing to me. Sublime, priceless beyond compare! Followed very, very closely in levels of perfection and beauty by Galvatron.

Actually, I recall reading somewhere that one of the MP designers dreams was to do the original Sideswipe...let's hope his bosses grant his wish very soon!!!

That would be totally UNawesome. The MP line is about G1 cartoon accuracy. Repainting or retooling a figure into another that bears little resemblance to the first would certainly not satisfy that criteria! If they did that it would be at least as stupid as releasing movie figures in the line

I'm hoping for Galvatron. We've got two leaders of the Autobots, the leader of the dinobots who challenged Prime for leadership, the leader of the Decepticons and the one who constantly challenged him for the position. Galvatron is the most logical follow up.

Even though Galvatron would be a nice edition to the MP line up, but personally i would like to see either Cyclonus (with or without a Target Master) or Scourge to be the next one on the MP waiting list. But, i would have to agree with what someone said in the previous posts, that Galvatron pretty much has never had a good mold dedicated to him, so a MP Galvatron would be alright with me. I just wish Christmas wasnt around the corner so i could get MP Roddy, Maybe next year then..

i'm hoping for Galvatron...and considering the original G1 version was quite close (just some colors and aesthetics of the actual design needed to be changed),i find it hard to believe,with todays engineering techniques and resources,that they wouldn't be able to make a spot-on,cartoon/movie accurate version of him...

Add me to the list of people that want Galvatron. With Rodimus coming it makes sense to give us his enemy.

Second to Galvy would be Soundwave.

I'd be curious to see how they could make Shockwave better. The old G1 figure is already massive compared to most other figuresand scales pretty well in robot mode to some of the other MP's. Id love it if they gave him better articulation and maybe a glowing eye.

I'll side with those who're thinking Soundwave or Galvatron. Although Galvatron has some impossible things done in his transformation .... maybe they can make it work. I certainly hope so.

I'm almost afraid it'll be Bumblebee, though.

I would also accept BB, Prowl, or Devastator. That **** needs to happen.

I do think Soundwave (and an inevitable Blaster repaint) or Shockwave are the next logical choices.

The G1 Galvatron toy sucked, so if they do decide to make a MP Galvy, they better change some of the design, because it's going to look horrible.

I think Ratchet is also due a Masterpiece (followed by an Ironhide repaint), as they were major characters in both G1 cartoon and comics, and were in most subsequent series in one form or another.

Also, I'd love to see a Masterpiece Devastator, with the Constructicons regular MP size and still able to combine. This thing would rival Fort Max in size most likely, and would cost in the neighborhood of $500-600. And that brings me to my last:

Masterpiece Fortress Maximus. It would cost about $1000 if not more. But I'd find the cash somewhere.

If they were to do a Soundwave, I'd love to see them do it with a few Masterpiece cassettes - have a Masterpiece Ravage, Rumble, and Laserbeak (for example) that transform and actually stand on their own without fear of a speck of dust knocking them over.

Maybe we should wait until Rodimus comes out first?

If they could make a Galvatron that looks like that G1 artwork.... Oh man, it could be the most sought after MP EVER!

I will weep tears of joy if it's Soundwave. Regardless of the price, I will preorder him.

I would like to see Galvatron as the next MP like everyone else, and it's the most likely choice since we have Optimus, Megatron, and now Rodimus. But if I could have any figure as a masterpiece, it would be Jazz, since he's my favorite character and has never had a very outstanding G1 figure. (Which is a little funny in my opinion, seeing as how he's really iconic as well, but thank goodness Generations Jazz is coming out next year.)
A few more good choices would be Bumblebee, Ironhide/ Ratchet, Prowl, or a toon-accurate Ultra Magnus.
