how do you think RID classics could work

I heard awhile back that TFCC were planning on doing a repaint of Classics Rodimus as Sideburn for next year's club member freebie. That combined with this year's botcon exclusive Sky-Byte got me thinking how that could work out into other molds that could be used to homage characters from RID/Car Robots. While I've been thinking about it for awhile and came up with a few more ideas, I'd like to hear some other nerds' opinions on what could be done for a RID revival/anniversary/ect. line.

Well Generations is going to have a revision of G2 Laser Optimus Prime so they could easily repaint him black and you'll have RID Scourge.

Honestly I can't think of to many figures in RID that deserve or need a Generations tribute. They were fairly poseable or were repaints of G1/Beastwars.Maybe they would do one or two in the future, but some of the molds have been over played anyway.G1 and some BeastWars only really seem to need/deserve/disired in a tribute line.

I was thinking you could Take a RotF Mudflap, get a head swap and you have X-Brawn.

I'd love to see a more posable shark Skybyte (and its original, Cybershark - love that figure, but the shark mode is just not posable), as well as updated G1 figures (a smaller Fort. Max, as well as Bruticus)

Yeah, I mostly agree with the fact that RID was full of good molds all around and really doesn't need an update. However there is a significant downside to the original figures from that line, in that they don't age well. Sure their articulation can stand up to modern standards, but still owning a small number of figures from RID still I have to say they don't last.

The Autobot brothers are almost made out of 50% translucent plastic, which does not hold up well under years of wear. Side Burn is the most terrible example in that his ENTIRE VEHICLE SHELL is completely translucent plastic, and looking at mine almost every translucent part is either cracked, chipped, or on the verge of outright disintegrating. I don't have the train trio, but from my observation they suffer in a similar way.

The beasts suffer from most of the same problems that plagued their prior Beast Wars counterparts. Ball joint loosening and chrome chipping. Though to be fair any of the other figures in the line with chrome would chip too, but you get my point. I don't have any preds save for Megatron, so you'll have to bear that this is also more of an observation.

The worst of it comes in the form of the Spychangers and Decepticon commandos. All come with G1 poseability, which is quite a let down for a line that had so many other super poseable bots in it. Sure the spychangers were meant to be simple little guys that you could hide amid your matchbox or wotwheels cars or whatever, but it's still a bit of a let down after seeing how capable they were in the show. Ruination as well, great to have a bad guy gestalt, but it's just a redeco of G1 Bruticus. Pit that against Rail Racer or Landfill and it just looks sad.

Yeah, I once wondered a long time ago about using one of the derp twins for making X-Brawn out of but... no. I actually kinda wondered if ROFT Brawn might work better since he's a few paint aps and one letter in his name away from perfect.

ROTF Brawn works pretty well, and would work even better with a head retool. Hot Rod works as Sideburn pretty well, but I'm not really sure who would make a good Prowl. I think a new RID line would be great, hopefully we'll see it one day.

I'd love to see RiD get love. Hell, I'd be happy if RiD got a DVD release.

Really, I'd just like tires that don't self-destruct. Maybe Magnus and Optimus could use new releases, but I'm happy with them the way they are.

HA Side Burn with Koji and HA X-Brawn with Kelly would make me very happy

I have to say all of my R.I.D figures except for Super Side-Burn have held up surprisingly well.

Prime has a lot of chrome wear as does Magnus, but for some reason Galvatron's chrome is pristine.

I'd really like a homage line for R.I.D, but I would more so love some actual re-issues like they did with Beastwars 10th.

I know some of the molds are beyond use, but I'd love to see them re-release X-Brawn.

The Train bots are still quite easily obtainable, and very accessible in price.

Its Scourge that commands the higher prices, almost as much as the exclusive Magnus repaint.

As far as the TFCC Rodimus into Side Burn goes, I'm not sure that mold can stand another use.

I mean seriously how many times has it been released? Lets count shall we:

Classics
Henkei
Botcon Shattered Glass Rodimus
Gentei Wildrider
Sons of Cybertron
Challenge at Cybertron 3-pack

It would be the seventh use, should we be worried of mold degradation by then?

I'd think it really hasn't been long enough for an RID homage in Generations... if they hadn't already done an Armada figure in Universe/Classics...

Depends from one given mold to the next, but knowing how many different releases the classics seeker and universe lambo molds have been re-used I'm fairly confident that Rodimus can hold up long enough for one more TFCC release. Though I have to say I don't feel that mold suits Side Burn much.

And yeah, the chrome on my Prime and Black Convoy are okay, though Megatron's in kinda faded. Actually most of his yellow and gold painted details are fading as well, which I only just noticed.

I am actually a little sad that I could never get the American Scourge release since it has the red translucent parts as apposed to pink, but I guess I should be grateful I have it at all.

Re-issues would be great too, but again I have to rag on the excessive use of translucent plastic. IF they do release the old molds again they need to do something about that. My Prowl's doors have broke off their ball joints and Side Burn's leg is disintegrating. Ultimately though, I doubt the brothers will ever get a re-release since their vehicle modes are all directly based on trademarked vehicles and they BARELY got away with that last time.

I agree. You can't improve Megatron, he's exactly like the cartoon. Optimus's upper arms could be made longer and thigh swivels added but other than that he's also great. Ultra Magnus could use an upgrade but if they did that then Optimus and Omega Prime would probably suffer. It's probably best left as is.

Well I don't see them really homaging RID. I never liked the RID counterparts because they were cheapened from the original CarRobots line.

Optimus suffers from some paint issues.
X-Brawn has some hceaper paint apps and detailing missing compared to Wildrider.
Skybyte/GelShark are identical, bout the only one.
RID Scourge has the translucent pink, but Black Convoy is very cartoon accurate with the upside down G2 Autobot symbol.

And what the hell is Ruination? Hasbro made me so mad because I could never get Valdigus due to the insane price. We got a dumbed down bruticus and no upside down G2 Autobot symbols. I mean even in the cartoon they retained their correct colors and we got some off beat crap.

The shining RID toy will be Megatron, which is Devil Gigatron in Gigatron's clothing thanks to the mold switch. I never liked Devil Gigatron's colors, but the extra formations made using RID Megatron worked.

Also What can they really due re-releasing the line under Generations anyway. The new molds for CarRobots/RID had lots of play value and pose ability that I have yet to see in the Unicron trilogy or even in the Classics/Universe2.0/Generations line have to offer.

The repaint of Rodimus as Sideburn is a reverse homage because of Super Sideburn repaint. If they pick other molds to represent the RID line then I would be surprised buy the CarRobots/RID line is fine the way it is.

I actually think it's about time they stop the cheap new molds of G1 characters and move on. I think we really need to move on to RID, and maybe Unicron trilogy. I would also rather see reissues than dumb modernized cheap designs. Also, the Beast Wars anniversary series was horrible and I hope they do something else with the line. I really din't start to get into Transformers toys until 2004, and didn't follow storylines until the first movie, so I've missed out on tons of my now favorite characters.
Hasbro is just catering to GeeWunners now, which are trying to destroy the well-being of the modern-day loyal TF fan community.

Generations. The same concept as Classics and Universe, different name. And Voyager Rhinox? Nice idea, not confirmed though.

Sorry, I just remember hearing this a while ago. A LONG while ago: n an interview that is printed in Toyfare #138 (February 2009 issue), Hasbro's Transformers Universe designer Bill Rawley talks about the future of the Universe line. He states that the Universe line, which is going on hiatus next year for the movie line, may return in some incarnation following Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen but is dependent on several factors. If Universe does return, Bill states that two character on top of his wish list are Generation One Soundwave and Beast Wars Rhinox. The article goes on to state that Rhinox is invisioned as being at least a Voyager-sized figure. While the article provides no confirmation that Universe will return after the movie line nor confirmation of Soundwave or Rhinox being produced, having these two figures on the designer's wish list provides hope that these two characters will receive updated

While I would love to see some BW figs find their way into Generations (and really, why shouldn't they?) just as they did with Cheetor in Universe, I've heard that Generations is meant to be a deluxe-only scale line. So if you can settle for a deluxe-class Rhinox, then there's at least some hope he'll show up in this line. And really, considering the amazing job they've done so far with newer molds (Drift/Blurr, Cybertronian Prime, etc.) I think that they could absolutely do Rhinox justice in this scale, in this line.

With G2 Laser Optimus Prime being released, we aren't far away from a RID Scourge Repaint.

Oh shut up. I just think the GeeWunners need to leave the real fans alone and stay in the 80's. And how is this sacrilege? All I want is some new renditions of some stuff we're starting to miss. This is also simply my opinion, and I love the Transfomrers dearly. I am sorry if I said anything considered sacrilegious.
