Who Thinks We Need a New Ultra Magnus?

Okay, I've heard this in a few threads and I can't stress it enough. Has it been long enough since we've gotten a classic series Ultra Magnus? Or do you think he's overrated and no one cares? I definitely want a new Magnus, maybe a modern take on the G1 version (I AM NOT A GEEWUNNER) that has both the standard and super robot modes, and can hold fellow 'bots on his trailer. Actually, I could even take a Prime redeco at this point. I just want Magnus. Anyone else feel the same pain?

I agree. A friend of mine recently got me into the Magnus fandom and I can't afford a Fansproject one

Truth be told I would love to see a cartoon or IDW accurate Magnus instead of just a white painted Optimus. I mean, even those tiny gum box TFs that we saw pictures of recently can make an accurate G1 Magnus. I'm sure Hasbro could too. With all the awesome figures announced recently I have some hope that there is a chance to see one someday.

Some people use Titanium Ultra Magnus for their CHUG displays.

I personally don't like FansProject stuff anyway, so I understand why you wouldn't want to dump dough for one. I would really love to see a G1 reissue of the original toy again. Or maybe an all-new highly articulated, but G1 accurate design. I have to disagree on one Prime redeco (although I don't have him). That would be Laser Ultra Magnus. Look himup if you don't know him. There is always a chance the new Laser Prime could become a Laser Magnus. It just makes too much sense to do it.

I felt the same way until I got my City Commander set..
Munitioner and Explorer are two of my favorite TF's of all time now.
Their swag is top notch.
But a decent armored Magnus is a great idea.

I would actually love a FP one, but after buying the Classics Magnus and the kit itself I would be way broke. I'm just too poor to afford one

Laser Magnus is kind of cool. I briefly saw pictures of the upcoming Laser OP and he looked awesome, but I wouldn't even like a repaint of that. He's still OP, not Magnus. It wouldn't be the same without all the armor. Poor guy gets no love, I say he should get his own figure. Like what they are doing in the Generations/RtS line next year. I have hope that someone at Hasbro loves Magnus too and can make it happen.

I'd certainly be up for a Hasbro Magnus, a real one, and not just a white-painted Optimus!

As a die-hard Ultra Magnus collector, I welcome any new Magnus. Though I find the City Commander to be a great stand-in for my classics collection, it would be nice to see how Has/Tak would make a modern G1 armored Magnus (the G1 Titanium was executed so poorly that I pretend it never existed and keep it hidden away).

I would love a new Ultra Magnus and not as a white Optimus. Even a Classicized version of Animated Ultra Magnus would be awesome.

He can be a Prime repaint.
Provided he has his own unique trailer he can combine with.
Hey Hasbro ... Powered Convoy repaint ...

I would like to see a reissue of the UM/SW 2-pack that I totally missed out on. Ebayers the world over would be screaming bloody murder!

Hasbro did make that. It's a shrunk down version of Titanium Ultra Magnus. The Titanium line was produced by the Galoob team. Yeah, the guys who did Micro Machines.
That one is USA all the way!

I want Hasbro to do a new Magnus. I don't care if it is a base figure and armor, or all one piece. I just want it to look like Ultra Magnus from the G1 cartoon. I don't even care what the alt mode looks like, as long as it's a truck.

I would and wouldn't be surprised to see a new Ultra Magnus. I wouldn't be surprised because of all the attention 86 movie/Season 3 figures seem to be getting but I would be surprised if they made anything larger than a Deluze in the Universe line. I can't see UM as anything less than a Voyager if you are going to do him right.

I have both of them too, and I love'em. They look great standing together with my Warbot (Springer), G3 trailer attached to Prime, and my Classics Starscream with the Coronation add-on.
I would still like to see another Hasbro Magnus with trailer. Tome it seems weird to have him without it, since it's a big part of him....

Here's what I think should happen:
We get a new G1-based Optimus Prime mold with trailer
We get a new G1-based Ultra Magnus with the Prime cab robot except in white, which can combine with the trailer.
(Yeah same concept as G1 molds)
This way, you can switch their trailers and make a "Power Up Optimus Prime" if you want.
Or, we can just have a new Magnus, and do the vice-versa of usual: We redeco it and call it something like "Power Up Optimus Prime", in Prime colors. The name refers to the ability to add the armor/trailer onto the standard robot. Also, the trailers should be able to hold standard sized TF car modes (depending on the scale of the trailer).

Any item with the name UMagnus next to it, I'm buying, LOL. With that, I'm praying for a new UMagnus mold too! Right now, all I want is an accurate cartoon G1 Ultra Magnus action figure whom I can display him in his full glory. My wish list features includes:
1 - Open chest cavity with Matrix just like TFTM.
2 - Missile launchers on the side of the trailer just like the cartoon, not in the front like the G1 toy.
3 - Simple & plain chest plate, not space shuttle chest plate.
4 - Great articulation.
5 - Cab robot mode can combine with trailer.
So far, we only got 4 unique UMagnus mold that are not redeco (G1, RID, Titanium, Animated).
-I'm hoping Igears Umagnus trailer can deliver some of the above features.
-Hopefully that rumor about UMagnus feature in TF3 is true, then we can get new mold.
-UMagnus War For Cybertron design is hot too, hopefully Hasbro make it.
-IDW UMagnus would be nice too.

I'll take a redeco of the upcoming Laser Prime, as long as it's colored like the Laser Magnus figure (or gets an even more G1 animation inspired color scheme) and isn't simply a white Prime. Bonus points if they give it a new head with a face.

If they were going to release a new Ultra Magnus that combines with his trailer, they could retool it to be Powermaster Optimus Prime or vice versa.

Ultra Magnus thoroughly deserves a new figure, it's 2010 and it's time for all the main characters from the movie to be given G1 accurate figures.
NO crappy white 'Ultra Magnus' figures thanks, I am also sick of them. They look nothing like his G1 character, give us a break.
No stupid deluxe Prime repaints, no trailers, it doesn't even have to be a truck as the alt mode - just a G1 accurate robot mode would be enough for me (voyager or ultra class).
Titanium is too small, Classics is white, laser Magnus sucks, even the G1 Ultra Magnus is one of the worst toys in the whole line.
He needs an official figure that is of the same standard as Hasbro's outstanding efforts with our other G1 favourites in the Generations/United line.
I'm not interested in Fansproject's CC because awesomely designed as it is, it's not official, it's an imitation of one of the Transformers greats which only came about because he's never been given a good figure.

I'm all for a Magnus that gets his Ultra back. Even though I've got City Commander, I too feel the need for an official Hasbro version that has a trailer that becomes his armour. Sure they can paint Prime white a million times over and try to make a Magnus out of him... but without that armour he's just not the same, and just can't cut it.

So you're rejecting the only good Ultra Magnus (by your own words) because the guys who made it don't work for Takara? They obviously have the chops to do so but they went into business on their own which is the much more difficult option. They can do something neither Hasbro nor Takara can do: cater exclusively to the collectors market. The only time we've seen any attempt by the big companies to do so was the Hasbro.com Special Editions with Overkill and Dragstrip and all we got were 4 Classics repaints before they canceled the line. City Commander is exactly what you want only with a Hasbro copyright stamp on its boot. And I don't think we will ever see anything of that quality officially come out for the character.
Compare the Springers Hasbro gave us to the Warbot Defender or the Universe Bruticus with and without Crossfire. Don't cut yourself off from these amazing figures because of a logo on the box.
