Need something good after lackluster purchases

Recently purchased WFC Prime and HFTD Ironhide and both were lackluster IMHO. Any idea's for a good purchase currently on store shelves besides Leader Starscream (too much cash for the moment) worth purchasing? Have been debating on Brimstone and Hubcap (descent money for small figures) what are your opinions on them?

Both are cool figures, however my preference runs with Hubcap. He is very well proportioned and has great articulation. Being a classic style car also gives him a unique look that's a nice break from the typical modern car anatomy.

Brimstone is more of a reach in that his bot mode is gawky and a bit odd, what with the rod-like arms and spinning blade hands. Still a mean looking little 'con despite the fact that his alt mode is woefully out of scale with Hubcap's.

Alternatively, Sidearms Sideswipe is awesome, along with Generations Darkmount. That is, if you can find them.

I have to agree about Hubcap. Great alt mode, great bot mode, and all around awesome figure. He was on my desk at work until my 4 year old came to visit and took it with him. I'm tempted to buy another for myself. The only negative is that he has a bit of a duck face.

I agree. Hubcap is the way to go IMO also. I love that figure and think it is a true standout. I can't say anything bad about Brimstone, but I don't personally like bike-bots.

Cobalt Prime had a couple good ideas-If you can find Sidearm Sideswipe, you should get that guy (the Takara version will be better looking). Darkmount is a must-have for most people as well. But, as stated, finding them might be difficult at this point.

If you didn't like WFC Prime, I would be afraid to recommend and other WFC figures.

Hubcap can also be repainted quite easily into ZZ Top's "Eliminator" roadster. Adding the beard, sunglasses, and hat to his bot mode wouldn't be quite as easy, and I have yet to see a furry guitar in his scale...

That "upgrade" set with a new bearded/sunglass head with removable hat and a furry guitar would be a total and complete win.

Yep, Hubcap!

I don't own Brimstone, honestly, but Hubcap is one cool little figure. VERY cool alt mode, good robot mode, and it takes about 10 seconds to transform him, which is cool.

Well slag. I was gonna recommend WFC Prime. I would recommend Blattle Blade Bumblebee, voyager class Battle Blades Optimus Prime (If you wanna spend that much), or PCC Smolder and Chopster.

If you want the ultimate "feel good" toy you should buy another G1 Optimus Prime (if you don't already have one - what have you been doing with your life?). I've got five, and getting a new one never looses its appeal.

I don't own it, but Brimstone looks quite cool - especially for a Motorcycle transformer.

I don't mind a complex TF, but there is a point when aligning panels turns into a chore :P

On another note thanks for all the "votes" for hubcap, def. be getting him. On that note what about Seaspray he's on sale at WM right now for 16.00 and seems to look pretty kewl.

Battle Blade Bumblebee sounds interesting, but I have so many Deluxe BB and repaints already lol. Battle Blades Optimus Prime havent though about that one yet. Seems like a waste to get him when I already have the 2007 and 2009 leader class of him.

Why not take a break? Time off from the hobby works for me sometimes, you'll start to build up a desire for figures you want - alot better than making silly purchases to find that desirable figure.

+1.

That said, I don't actually own Hubcap, because his head mold looks a little bit silly to me, and he's not really a G1 homage. Throw a better head on there and he'd be bought in an instant, regardless of homage.

Very good point, will definitely take it into consideration,... after purchasing Hubcap ^^

WFC Soundwave is fantastic. I just picked him up the other day. He looks like a great G1 homage in bot mode, he is in scale with the other classic deluxes and with classics Ravage. His alt mode looks just like the game, he has the boom box mode, and he is not stupid hard to transform. He is a win all-around.

I would also recommend Seaspray. He looks great on my classics shelf next to red Powerglide.

I realize he's at the higher end of the retail price spectrum, but I picked up Human Alliance Jazz a few days ago. I had some reservations with how he looked in the packaging, but the tobot mode is beautiful and I'm completely in love with the toy. I had my reservations about the HA line as a whole, but I'd definitely recommend him. But, Blurrz had a good point as well. Sometimes, its best to take a break.

I just bought Hubcap this afternoon. Very nice toy. His head reminds me of G1 Chromedome. I don't think it's silly at all. I like the G1 vibe from it. The one bad thing about ROTF Nightbeat was the alien head. Great car though.

Oilpan and Breakdown share a nice mold though Breakdown wins it for me by being an excellent G1 homage.

I actually like WFC Optimus. Darkmount is good but not as special as he's hyped to be.

I've been thinking about Payload and Seaspray, especially since the store I saw them are having a half price sale and late opening. Be checking that out on payday.

If I could find a HA Jazz he would be mine lol. The HA line has had some great toys so far (I personally own HA BB, Barricade, Sideswipe and Skidz). Plus my Fiancé loves the character so it would make her extremely happy also.

Well, I'll just be contrarian and vote against Hubcap. I've got this guy and I think he's rather overrated. First, the "red" plastic just doesn't look very nice; it's rather orange and washed out. Second, the poses the bot mode is capable of tend to look like he ought to be wearing ice skates. That is, it's really hard to make this guy look imposing. The duck-face certainly doesn't help.

As for Seaspray, he does look cool. I don't have him yet; but I've decided to go for the Takara release. I'm a sucker for the G1 colors.

This is a very good idea. I do this throughout the year naturally. I go from Lego to collecting NASCAR diecasts to collecting Hot Wheels to Transformers again. I think this makes a purchase on a figure you missed out on during your "break" more special. That's just my opinion.

yeah....Hubcap is good ****. Got him posed along side my G1 laserRod Volt. To me he's a homage to him so i've renamed him Volt.
Darkmount FOR SURE! Scoop that figure up soon. Fun transformation and i love the axe. I'm a big fan of TF's with melee weapons. Poses real well too.

Well, I don't usually...or ever...buy scouts but from the talk on the forum I might have to pick up Hubcap. Too bad I can't find freaking SKYSTALKER for under freaking $24.99. I want him for Mindwipe.
