Generations WFC Megatron as Classics?

I was in a store the other day and picked up Generations WFC Megatron. From the pictures I had seen of him, I thought I was going to buy him, as he would fit nicely on my Classics shelf. I am currently using Hasbro Classics Megatron (the Nerf-looking one). I like the Hasbro version, but the colors on the Generations figure looked so much nicer. So I was considering a switch.

Then I got him in-hand. From the pictures, I thought his bot mode looked very G1. In person, not so much. The head didn't look right to me and he had all kinds of stuff hanging off of him all over the place. I ultimately put him back on the shelf.

So my question to you guys: Did you buy him why or why not, where does he fit in your collection and why, and should I go pick him up?

I bought him and I absolutely love him!
I love the way he looks, plus I'm a fan of all things WFC. In terms of my collection, he's WFC Megatron, as I've got the Henkei Classics Megatron as well. Transformation is relatively simple, but I love the figure, it's fun, it looks fantastic on the desk or on the shelf, and much more so if you've got WFC Soundwave right next to him.

The size of the character is the only minus (plus, I would have liked if his forearms could swivel for more posability); this version of Megs really should have been Voyager-sized. Any how, I would place my bet on there being the greater chance of regret for passing on WFC Megs, regardless of what you want to use him for. The beauty here too is that you can also get the upcoming de-chromed Takara re-release of Classics Megs.

Yes, I bought him. No, I don't think he ever fits well with classics. WFC Soundwave fits better.

The reason I bought him is because I have WFC Optimus Prime and he is being too longly standing on the corner along. And these two fits so well together. He isn't as much fun as OP but he is a better toy. Much less kibbles and much simpler transformation.

I think lots of fans bought it because of their pure love for it. Another way to say is for No Reason.

I'm trying to make basically the same decision you are. I have WFC Megs, but haven't opened him yet. I think he looks great, but he seems too small compared to many other Classics/Universe/Generations figures, especially Classics Prime. If you don't care about scale, he'd probably be a great figure. Since I haven't opened him yet, I can't say for sure, but since scale doesn't seem to be much of an issue for you judging by what you said in your post, I'd recommend getting him.

I've ordered him but he hasn't arrived yet. He and WFC Prime will go on my shelf of Optimus/Megatrons that have no playmates from their toyline to hang with.

I have him and I absolutely LOVE him!

That is for certain that he does not belong on a Classics shelf by any means (that job still belongs to Henkei Megatron)....I got him because he's a great rendition of the character and I needed someone to beat up on my W4C Prime! ;)

I have him and really like him.

This is my only complaint as well. He is too small compared to classics Prime.

Are WFC Megs and Prime in scale with each other? I haven't played the game.

I know I am going to end up buying him then putting him on the "shelf for things that don't fit anywhere". I hate that shelf. Its just a pile of random figures.

I have one of those, but my WFC figs actually get a spot of their own, on top of the tower speakers for my entertainment system. Bots on one side, Cons on the other, just as it should be. 8)

I have him and he is fantastic. I'm also not terribly concerned with his size compared to classics prime since I also has classics nemesis prime. Though I am confused with the OP's statement of stuff hanging off him...the guy has virtually ZERO kibble. Everything fits in very well. That said I have seen people mis-transform the piece on his left shoulder. if done correctly it does slide in place just fine if you match up the black lines.

I can see the points being made. I guess since I don't have the voyager leaders, and WFC prime is a sporty thing that looks pickup sized, they fit in on my shelf fairly well.

I imagine him as pre-Earth Classics Megatron. ;)
