Where is Alternity going?

Recently I took a look at all the Alternators, and they all look just wonderful. But, they're kinda pricey for my income, so I was wondering if anyone knows any of their plans. Because if it's only going to be Magnus, Optimus, Bumble, Cliffjumper, Megs, and the Seekers I don't think I'll bother collecting them. But if we're gonna get some more of the vital characters (Soundwave, Shockwave, Ironhide/Ratchet, Prowl etc.) Then I'll consider.

If anyone could fill me in, I'd appreciate it.

Alternators is a whole different line, the domestic release of Binaltech. What you're referring to is Alternity.

Anyhow, Thundercracker (and Ultra Magnus for that matter) has just been released and with the holiday season being filled with MP Rodimus Convoy, 2010 Predaking and a couple other releases, Alternity is taking a back seat.

Damn. Well, do you think they've sold well enough to get a decent set of characters out?

They've probably sold well enough, it's just that Takara has a lot on their plate with the whole 2010 line, movie stuff, Animated, and United. Alternity has had a record of slow releases anyway, I think they've had a new mold every several months. Ultra Magnus, Thundercracker, and the Convoy Red rerelease just came out, so it might be awhile before we see something new from Alternity.

I sure hope to see more. I think an Alternity Ratchet and Ironhide has a lot of potential. This would also be a lot lighter on my wallet than trying to collect the G1 combiners, which I had initially planned on doing.

I would've thought an Ironhide/Ratchet mold and a Soundwave/Soundblaster mold was inevitable...
I absolutely love the Seeker mold, so I would love to see how tey do Soundwave.

We have no idea when characters are on the way, or even if they'll continue! There isn't any news of new releases on the site. I think the first mold was released in Jan 09 so it's taken a year and a half to release four molds. It's not a hurried line!

Which is fine by me. I love them but there is so much to buy that I can wait a little while inbetween. Helps out the finances that way.

The Bumblebee/Cliffjumper and the Seeker mold really don't seem up to par with the two Nissans (Megs and Convoy). I absolutely love them, but the newer figures aren't of the same caliber, less interior space/detail, and a lot more visible panel lines. Oh well, lucky for me I don't have to import an entire line now lol!

I haven't seen anything about the Alternity for a very long time, now. I'm worried (now that I'm starting to catch up) that Alternity is, in fact, over. With DOTM on the way, I don't think Takara will be working on this line at all.... :(

I'm not sure how Successful Alternity was, so perhaps Takara decided it isn't a worthwhile line to continue. Or, maybe they are just not in any rush to add more toys to the line. Honestly, I don't mind waiting a while for a quality figure.

I'd love for them to finally add Alternity Jazz to the line. His concept art is way to cool looking not too! A Lexus LFA would be a perfect alt-mode, and would really suit the line!

Even if Alternity is done for, at least we got some of the nicest Transformers ever while it lasted...

With Thundercracker's pack-in story the Alternity storyline ends with Convoy et al losing their powers and returning to being common or garden Transformers rather than omniscient beings.

Coupled with the not-fantastic sales of the line it sounds like Alternity is done, at least for the immediate future. It was too good to last, sadly.

Unlike Alternators I was not exactly happy with the line at all. Thundercracker always feels like he's going to fall apart. Convoy's arms are too short and his only claim to fame is his frontal presence until he sticks out his arms. They had a very nice engineering, and the metal parts are what will make you a customer, but the execution just was never right.

Why did I not see this before? Was it in the news?

He looks to much like the first two molds to me. I hope they don't release it as i'd hate to have to pass on an Alternity mold.

I liked the Alternity figures, but I wouldn't be sad to see them go. Just didn't feel I was getting the value with the $50+ dollar price point on a deluxe sized fig...I couldn't really justify buying more than one of each mold, especially when they started out with such unnecessary repaints of Prime and Megs.

His art was the concept for the entire line, hence the Nissan GT-R alt-mode. I guess Takara wanted Prime to be the headlining Autobot unsurprisingly.

It would be a shame to see him released with the same alt-mode.

I'm a relatively new collector, and I have a few basic questions about the Alternity line:

- Which characters were released up to now ? and When ?
- Am I wrong, or they all look like to be in scale with the Movies' Human Alliances ?
- They all look very shine on pictures. Are they made of plastic or metal ?

Thanks for the info. Until now I only own TF movie toys and the Alternity line seems to be the kind of "high-quality" line I would like to add to my collection.

They are 1:32 scale, so around the size of the average deluxe in alt-mode, and about 6" tall in robot mode.

Xterminator wrote:- They all look very shine on pictures. Are they made of plastic or metal ?

They are mainly plastic, but with a decent amount of diecast parts in the main structural body. The paint applications are pretty high quality.

IMO, Alternity toys are the highest quality Transformers available.

I can't really explain why, but I really wanted to see Ironhide and Ratchet. I dunno... I just don't want Alternity to end just yet... All we got were Bumble and the effing Seekers.

As a plus Reprolabels made a set to turn the blue Megatron into Beast Wars Megatron. I picked him up cheap and ordered the set to go with him and since then I ended up with a half dozen Alternity's total. The line is HIGHLY recommended.

Look how awesome this it:

I agree, I love this line a lot. I want to get the Jazz set for the silver convoy I have, but I don't know how well the face sticker stays on. The face also kinda looks goofy. I wish I could find a video or some pics (other than off the reprolabels site) to see how it looks.
