Who goes with which line in the Reveal the Shield promotion?

Well, the answer is pretty obvious for most cases. If the figure is a repaint of a mold originally from the Movie toyline, it stays there, but if it's a repaint of something from the Classics/Universe 2.0/Generations line, it goes with that continuity. So far, that's:
Classics: Bumblebee redeco and Grapple
Movie: Chopsaw, Fallback, Mindset, Strafe, and Deep Dive
Then there are entirely the entirely new molds. Most of these are, again, obvious given that they share aesthetic and design choices with the classics line of figures. The obvious ones are:
Classics: Legends Optimus Prime, Megatron, Starscream, Gold(bug) Bumblebee, Prowl, and Trailbreaker, Windcharger, Jazz, Tracks, Perceptor, Wrek-Gar, and G2 (Laser) Optimus Prime.
But...where does Lugnut fit? It's conceivable that he could be inserted into either continuity, being that he's not originally from either, and he's got a very unique kind of look that could work for either classics or Movie aesthetics. So, which shelf is "right" for Lugnut?
Also, what's with the scant few movie figures being forced under the Reveal the Shield promotion? There are only five (maybe six) in all compared to 15 or 16 classics entries. Could Hasbro really not fit them into one last wave of Hunt for The Decepticons figures?

Undertow is a PCC figure, not RtS. You must be meaning Deep Dive, a repaint of Sea Spray.
I'm guessing that the movie figures are in there purely to "boost" the assortment of figures. At the beginning of a line each case has at least 4 different figures per smaller size class (Legends to Deluxe) and 2 per larger class (Voyager and up).

Ah, you're right, I was thinking of Deep Dive. Got my nautically themed names mixed up. (First posted edited with correct name)
That's interesting about the initial assortments, but does't the scout size class break that trend with Reveal the Shield? The first wave only has two scout figures scheduled, and I don't know of any more scout sized figures coming down the pipeline in the immediate future. Is there just going to be a glut of Windchargers and Chopsaws for the duration of the RtS line?

All Reveal the Shield figures are technically classic series figures whether they use movie molds or not. The movie molds are just Hasbro looking for an excuse to reuse ROTF molds that haven't yet been reused. Lugnut goes wherever you want to put him, but I'd consider him classics.

i am going to side with optimus here. Besides Deep Dive/Sea Spray never ever struck me as a movie style toy, regardless of what set he was in. same with breacher but then they are partners so that make sense. but i have had seaspray with classics for a while and he fits in great.

Sea Spray, and therefore Deep Dive, aren't too hard of a sell for fitting the "classics" aesthetic, but I personally think that list ends there. Maybe Mindset can squeak by too, but Chopsaw, Fallback, and Strafe just have too much of that "alien" motif to them in robot mode to really fit in with the classics. Strafe is an especially poor "classics" Strafe. Mindset doesn't even seem to be the same guy as the G2 character he's visually based on, and Chopsaw and Deep Dive don't have any G1 or G2 antecedents from ANY source material, which is just not done with the classics line. Of course, then we have Lugnut, who isn't G1 either, but he is at least an established (and quite popular) character from another Transformers continuity, so retroactively including him among the neo-G1 characters of classics is a bit easier to understand.
I think the first wave of Reveal the Shield has some Hunt for the Decepticons leftovers that weren't enough to warrant one more shipment, so they threw them in with Reveal the Shield by slapping rubsigns on them. Easy as pie. Maybe too, it was a way for Hasbro to correct that "last wave of a line" distribution problem, where the last few figures of a line (Universe 2.0 Ratchet and Hot Shot) show up in very few areas in even fewer quantities and then are just gone. Now they have a chance at a reasonable distribution by tagging along with the first wave of a new line.

Don't forget Voyager Bludgeon, who fits in well with the Classics, also.

Yeah, Blugeon could go either way, but he, and his repaint Bonzaitron, came in under the N.E.S.T. Globabl alliance and Hunt for the Decepticons promotions from the movie line, so their "official" shelves are not hard to infer. To be clear, I've got no problem with people mixing around figures from different lines to fill out their displays, as it's each collector's perogative. For instance, I have Cybertron Armorhide as my Classics Pipes, Energon Downshift as Wheeljack, Energon Roadblock as Grapple, etc. But due to my obsesive curiosity and need to categorize things "properly," I just want to know what Hasbro's stance is officially on where these movie mold Reveal the Shield figures fit, though I kind of doubt they ever really will say one way or another.
EDIT:
And now I realize that, while Hasbro hasn't said much on the issue, Takara Tomy already has! I'm going to assume that any Reveal the Shield releases from Hasbro that aren't also released under Transformers United by Takara Tomy are NOT additions to the classics line and instead belong in the movie line.

I think Lugnut is meant to be "Classics" style rather than Bayformer. The reason I say this is he is part of the United line in Japan (which is all Classics style) rather than Alliance (which is all Bayformer).

I don't personally have him, but I have a friend that does. I really love him. He's just a great toy to me. That is why I want ROTF Grindor for Christmas. And if Whirl and Bludgeon go on sale for extrememly cheap, I'll get them too.

i've heard there is a good deal of mold degradation with whirl, which may be the reason for my dislike of the figure. But get the set. The deluxe bludgeon is AWESOME!!!

Yeah, the Wreckage mold is pretty awesome. It's almsot a shame that design wasn't used in the first movie. As for the Blackout mold, my favorite version is Evac. I love the paint aps, and his accessory is a life raft gun. That is awesome and hillarious.
