BotCon 2011 Predictions

What kinds of exclusive figures do you think will be at BotCon 2011?

At this point I know nothing about the convention or its theme, so this will basically be grasping at straws. Here's what I'd like to see:

    RtS Tracks as Road Rage
    RtS Perceptor as Magnificus
    Energon Roadblock as Load Hauler
    Universe Powerglide as Bad Boy
RtS Laser Optimus Prime as Ultra Magnus
RtS Kup and Universe Wheelie as Orion Pax and Dion
    Universe Ratchet in green
    Universe Ironhide in black

As a rule of thumb, the molds released this year are excluded for BotCon, as they're in use by Hasbro for regular retail. That means HftD and RtS molds are a no-go.

That may be the case, but they are all excellent ideas.

They are, if not a bit predictable as they're all e-Hobby :P

I seriously can't think of anything until the theme is revealed, the only hint we have is "an invasion"

I know for certain it won't be Brave nor Gobots. because Hasbro isn't going to promote & sponsor other companies stuff.

even though hasbro merged with tonka & owns the names & title of the gobots. bandai still owns the machine robo molds. hasbro won't give the okay to have a entire or partial botcon exclusives celebrating all the 1980's gobots characters & brands.

my guess is botcon 2011 will use some animated molds as their is really nothing else left to use. they'll just put the animated toys in a different non-animated story/universe. Example animated blurr being a transtech cheetor toy.

Brave is Takara property, the lines even use some TF molds. Nonetheless, the chances of a Brave theme are pretty slim.

I like the thought process behind it, but those are all e-hobby exclusives and have nothing to do with the Hasbro side of Cannon.

As for predictions. I have none that I can think of, which is surprising.

If Fun Publications could craft an interesting story tie-in, I think it would be fun to get a bunch of Diaclone inspired repaints.

Black Ironhide (Universe 2.0)
Red and Yellow Trailcutters (Reveal the Shield)
Blue Silverstreak (Universe 2.0)
Red Mirage (Classics)
Red Sunstreaker (Universe 2.0)
Police Deco Red Alert (Universe 2.0)
Yellow and Orange Devastator (Energon/Classics, could pull double duty as G2 Devastator?)
Blue Highlights Grimlock? (Classics)

...yeah, I'm starting to reach rather desperately for more good options by this point, but that's the extent of Diaclone repaints that never saw release as actual Transformers. A lot of these guys eventually saw release several years later as eHobby additions to the G1 line. So, maybe an eHobby inspired lot of repaints would work better? Why wouldn't Hasbro let Fun Publications semi-codify the eHobby characters anyway? If it's good enough for Takara Tomy, why not Hasbro?

So um, guys?

Why are we ignoring the only firm clue that has been given to us on the www.botcon.com website and as such stated at the 2010 convention?

"The invasion has begun"

Yeah, but at this point, it could mean anything. It could be an invasion of Diaclone homages.

Or it's probably the fact that either by BotCon fiction both the GoBots have invaded G1 or SG and Classics Universes have been crossed.

(SG Wheeljack and Ravage have crossed to Classics AND Classics Cliffjumper to SG)

I think I cracked it:

"Shattered Glass Go-Bot TransTech Zombies"

It makes perfect sense.

Since it's going off some sort of "invasion" angle, were there ever any stories in the marvel comics that featured an invasion story arc?

Not that I can think of.

Oh wait, I know what'll it be. Invasion? Secret Invasion? New Avengers crossover mayhaps? Imagine that, Marvel TFs for Botcon.

Then, imagine me killing myself. (Mind you, I do like those IM2 Crossovers)

You what I WOULD pay for, GIJoe Crossovers for a Botcon set. Maybe it'll be one continuity invading another, kinda like how RID played a small part in Redux, and we're getting Sideburn this year.

Or maybe they'll raid the vault and pull out some of those bad ass prototypes that never made it to retail. I'm looking at you Voyager Cosmos...

The only thing that would be better than seeing those Titanium prototypes getting released is if Hasbro breaks down, caves in to fan demand, and starts cranking out Masterpiece Wheelie. They know the demand is there. We all want the rhyming voice box/ display stand, too. Even if know one is willing to admit it.

So let's recap... The BotCon 2011 will be themed around an invasion, right now we have these Universes in the Timelines:

- the Classics offshoot
- the Shattered Glass mirror universe
- the Wings of Honor variant which includes G2:Redux

And possibly RiD, which has a very limited pool of figures. O good grief...

- Universe Ironhide as RiD X-Brawn
- C-Evac as SG Galvatron (a custom turned official figure has been done with 2009 Razorclaw)
- E-Demolishor as RiD Heavy Load
- C-Mudflap as RiD Hightower
- Classics Mirage as RiD Skid-Z (I know, mold's been used before but you never know)

I thought the movie molds were strictly off limits, mainly due to all the licensing that would be involved.

They can pass the cost down to the people ordering them.
