Terradive

Man, I just can't say enough good things about this figure. Wow. It was definitely one of my most highly anticipated acquisitions, based on the promotional photos, but I'm fairly used to being disappointed once I get the figure in my hands. Not this time. This guy has got it all and a bag of chips: a sophisticated yet rewarding transformation; tight joints, sophisticated articulation, and nice posability; great styling and personality in robot mode, including a unique weapon and an instantly iconic head sculpt; and a terrific paint scheme (I never expected a figure with this much orange to look so slick, but the black and white balance it all out very nicely). In other words, everything I could ask for in a Transformer!

I'm sure there are more than a few who disagree with me, but this is definitely one of my favorite TFs of the past several years. Nicely done, HasTak!

I like him. Not that much but his unique weapon and transformation are great and I like that a wide jet turns into a skinny robot. He's good, but I don't think he's great.

I like him too, but I don't like his head. I gave him the head from the PCC Rallybot torso instead. A little loose, but a little nail polish fixed it right up. :P

I was only getting one as a sort of Jhiaxus stand in, but I do admit just from first impressions it looked to be a pretty good toy in some right. Oh well, guess I'll see for myself come Christmas.

I hadn't seen him until I found a display separate from the rest of the toys at WalMart, which had a crap-ton of Terradives, Tomahawks, and Jolts. Maybe find out if your local store has them shelved somewhere else?

Even though I dislike the movie toys, I'll probably end up getting this one. It is a nice looking toy, all around. And the trident is a great idea. I knew I would probably like him when I saw it at Botcon, but the galleries here have convinced me.

I would LOVE to see the main three Seekers released in this mold. Skywarp's colors on this guy would look absolutely fantastic.

Anyone with the skills care to do a photoshop?

I typically don't like the movie figures either, mainly for the styling, but it seems that the further we get from the actual film, the more I tend to enjoy the toys. The ones that actually make onscreen appearances are usually the most disappointing. This figure doesn't FEEL like a movie figure to me and I think that's a big part of the appeal.

Agreed!

Sorry jlogano20. I'm joining the group now. Found and got him yesterday at a Target 20 miles away thanks to my meeting there. His head doesn't bother me that much as I thought before. Instead, is his weapon. The stick feels a little bit fragile but at least it's not the soft PVC. Very good figure though.

I caved in and picked up Terradive. I'm glad I did. He has an intricate transformation that is surprisingly quick and simple, not at all how I imagined watching the video reviews.

I noticed something strange about his wings on this legs. There is a second port that does not seem to have any use next to the one that locks the wings against the support hinge. Also, there is an alternate leg transformation for the wing. If you leave the support locked in the alt mode peg you can rotate the wing to lock in place upside down. Looking at his foot design, I wonder if the new deco will have a few changes to the legs to go along with the new head sculpt. In this position, if you look at his heel spur it could easily be his foot, with the current foot becoming the heel spur. I'm not sure how this would work without an added waist swivel for transformation, but it would look very cool. ;)^

My favorite thing about him is his ability to easily hold his weapon in both hands and be able to hold many different poses while doing so.

No question, they did a much better job with Terradive than Bludgeon in this regard, and in a very short time.

I'm continually blown away by the constant improvement in engineering. While I watched Beast Wars and some RID, I did not collect anything. But I did notice in BW toys the beginning of what would be used to make the first Classics line as well as the movie line. Seeing the evolution continue through RID, the Unicron trilogy, the first movie, Animated, the second movie, the Classics/Universe mixed in, all the way to what we have now...

Kids in the know have little idea how good they have it compared to us 80's kids.

I am never growing up. I had G1 Prime. I now have Classics and BB. I had G1 Grimlock. I now have Classics. I never had Hot Rod, my favorite Autobot next to Prime, I do now (I am one of the few who was not angered by Prime's death and the introduction of Rodimus Prime, to me I saw hope for the future, not the death of my hero, but the birth of my next hero). I always wanted Bluestreak, but I'm glad I did not get the TRU re-release because I have the new mold and it's so much better. But what really hit me, what really made me feel like a kid again, was when I saw Generations Dirge on Friday. All I could think about was how G1 Dirge was my only seeker and here, in my hands once again, I have another amazing update on a toy I loved as a kid.

Keep hitting home runs, Hastak!

I hope I'm right about the redeco of this figure. I hope he gets a slightly different weapon, like a giant battle-axe. I hope they keep the black parts and just swap the orange for another color, like red or green. And I hope they keep this mold as a Decepticon, because it makes for a great seeker update, a new seeker faction of two handed melee weapons wielders. That would be really cool!

Could Terradive be the first release of the Skyscorchers? We know we are getting a new head with the next repaint, but might we be getting a direct repaint as well of both this release and the new headed one? The original colors don't match, but considering the orange is almost G2 (yet not offensive to the eye), maybe we'll get an interesting shade of blue, green, and purple to complete the team?

One can hope...

I agree, Terradive is an amazing toy! I just picked him up about two weeks ago but only to see what the big deal was with him. I was really impressed after opening him from his package. I may pick up two more; One to keep as a backup and the other to repaint/kitbash as Slipstream. :D

I too dislike movie toys, but this one is an exception and plus my wife got Terradive for me as a stocking stuffer for Christmas! As for me and what ive seen of him, i like him, alt mode, bot mode, his weapon and his head mold!! His head mold looks bounty hunter-ish or something, i cant pin-point it yet, but overall, he's cool.
