Remakes?

Are there certain bots that you wish had a better mold?

My biggest one has to be Energon Rodimus. The design for him was SUPERB, and I'll go as far as saying that it's his best so far. But the toy was horrible. The lower legs were just unworkable, the shoulders awkward and there's no neck.

If the toy was rereleased with a thigh swivel, and better transformation joints around the shoulders and the head, I will buy twenty.

I'll start with the one everyone else will think of, Universe Galvatron. Such potential wasted on a really crappy figure.

A lot of the Energon figures have potential that were left unused - the combiners are awesome allready, but they could use proper hands and feet add-ons, Scorponok is a cool homage, but the mold is too stiff, it could use a modern remake. Also, the early Classics lack a lot of head-and arm movement. Each of them should have articulation that Drift has.

Armada Sideways. An interesting figure with great play features but he really needs elbows, knees and a neck.

Generations WFC Megatron. He looks awesome, but he's too small. I'm still debating about whether or not to get him, but I think I probably won't. If he were Voyager, he'd make a perfect Classics Megatron for those who don't like the Classics/Henkei version.

G1 Repugnus....his monster mode is too cool, but unfortunately his bot mode is severely lacking, especially in the arms. This would only really work as a classics figure but nonetheless, I would love to see a better bot mode for this guy.

Armada Blurr and Cybertron Override. Blurr needs more articulation, and Override needs more femme.

Override was transgendered upon Cartoon Network's request, you know that, right?

And I agree that Galvatron needs a do-over, Voyager-sized. And no realistic Earth mode this time!

Was sort of referring to her so she could be a base for Animated Override Prime.. then again I'm going to scratch build her anyways.

Except most of them can do something he CAN'T - a classic "t-pose". He can't raise his arms to the side at all.

Since we're getting a new G2 OP, seems like we should get a new G2 Megs, as well. Base it on the green tank, then they can always redeco it as the purple tank down the road. Of course then there'd be a convention exclusive "Reverse Convoy" blue w/remolded head version.

Revenge of the Fallen, the G1 cartoon, Animated, the Armada Trilogy. Remake them with actual writers. I'm sorry but the human villains in Animated really make it hard to watch.

Classics Astrotrain, Tankor/ Octane and Movie Bonecrusher should all be smaller.

Armada Sideswipe and Energon Prowl. Would love Scout versions of them.

Generations Scourge. Terrible alt mode, stupid looking black beard though beards on robots are ridiculous anyway and crappy wings. A larger, plastic version of Titanium Scourge would be nice..

Titanium Rodimus needs to be bigger.

I'd prefer if all the cars were scouts so as to fit in with the Diaclones.

How about a decent size Motormaster who can face off against an Optimus Prime whose not a Legend or an Actionmaster?

Skullgrin and Bludgeon and not have them being crappy bot/shell hybrids. IDW ruined Pretenders! and Hasbro have used their idea to be lazy.

Star Wars Transformers with actual TF style heads. G1 not movie style.

ROTF Nightbeat with a non alien looking bot mode. The car is perfect.

This mold is what started my post youth TF collection. I'd love to see this figure enlarged to voyager size. Get rid of the powerlink ability and just have him transform into a properly proportioned update of Rodimus Prime. The "hot rod" truck was a great idea, and taken into the Classics concept it would be Classics Hot Rod's natural leader evolutionary form. My favorite part of Energon Rodimus is that his fists swap with his boosters, so in bot mode he can transform his hands into guns. I have no issue with the spoiler on his forearms, but they need to add a joint at the arm to allow the spoiler to fold out to the side to make it look like a small wing. ;)^

I agree. Galvatron should have been voyager, and looks to have initially been designed to be voyager. At that size he could have had actual missiles on his backpack instead of molded ones, and the backpack could look more like a jet pack with additional weapons built in. Could have been very nice. :BOOM:

Totally agree. ;)^ I would gladly pick up a voyager WFC Megatron. I'd also pick up WFC Prime if he was voyager class as well. I have no issue with the smaller toy at a cheaper price point, but the price difference between deluxe and voyager is not all that much, especially when the characters are leaders. I don't collect anything larger than voyager more due to being too big than expense as we have all seen some great sales on larger classes.

But G2 Prime is deluxe. The mold makes no sense at that size. If he was voyager, I'd gladly buy the hopefully better repaint on sight. At that size he could also have a rifle to go along with the sword. A Megatron tank would be nice since Classics Megatron does nothing for me. They messed up Galvatron. They messed up Classics Megatron. And they made WFC Megatron too small. :-x

Don't you mean bigger? :???: Like voyager? I think they would have worked at that size very nicely.

Generations Scourge. Terrible alt mode, stupid looking black beard though beards on robots are ridiculous anyway and crappy wings. A larger, plastic version of Titanium Scourge would be nice..

Totally disagree here. I've never been a fan of the "space canoe."

I'd love a Motormaster, but I think they need to make a new mold for him to do it right.

Skullgrin and Bludgeon and not have them being crappy bot/shell hybrids. IDW ruined Pretenders! and Hasbro have used their idea to be lazy.

I haven't read any comics so I don't know what IDW did to Pretenders. I did watch Masterforce, and I think that's the only way Pretenders works. As shells would add a lot to the cost, I'd rather have nice Transformers with cool alts rather than tiny ones that look like malformed humanoids (most of the PCC minicons come to mind). #-o

Star Wars Transformers with actual TF style heads. G1 not movie style.

Robot heads that capture the SW character instead of the character's head on a robot body would look much nicer. ;)^ That's one reason I have yet to collect any SWTF's. They look weird to me, and not in a good way. :PEACE:

Sorry Bradimus I meant to say Astrotrain and co. should be bigger. Not sure where my head was. I have a KO Tankor at Voyager+ size and it really does suit him. He looks great in all modes pitted against my G1 Ultra Magnus. I know there's an Astrotrain out there too but he eludes me at the moment. If you want to see them visit KOtoys website.

A new mold would be nice for Motormaster though I'd be deliriously happy with a repaint of RID Ultra Magnus.

I totally agree with your Star Wars suggestion.

It's the heads that bug me with the Pretenders. I just prefer the G1 helmet look.

As far as I can tell, Thunderwing's head mold does have a helmet look to it.

I have Bludgeon and his samurai helmet over his skull is nice, though that 3rd party head looks nicer, but I'm not messing with mine.

I also picked up Skullgrin/Dauros. I love the head.

I'm guessing IDW turned Pretender characters into the hybrid look we are getting in the toys? I think it works well for the two I have. I have to admit it would be very cool to see a real Pretender, but I think that's something for the masterpiece line to tackle. Unless the shells are Voyager and the bots are whatever size they need to be to get the robot and alt modes right. But again, that might be too much money for the concept, and I'm not sure the kids would go for it at all. I only got one humanoid Pretender as a kid, Crossblades. My other Pretender was Gunrunner, and his shell was a car. I got them because they transformed.

Looking at this old booklet, Generations Thunderwing actually does a surprisingly amazing job at replicating the pretender shell in bot mode. The new figure transforms into a better jet, too. If they would have gone Voyager they could have made the drone into a Minicon version of his smaller robotic self. If I had the original I would definitely pick up the Generations, but I don't so I have no connection to a great bot that has more obvious robot kibble than a Classics Seeker alt (though I do like the Classics Seeker mold).
