Generations Red Alert gun question

To those of you who have opened him, does the "engine" piece that attaches to his gun peg or clip on in some way or doesn't have to balance on top? Mine does the latter, and very poorly.

It just kind of "clamps" on there more or less. No pegs or secure attach points that I'm aware of.

Hmm, maybe I'm missing something. I see no way to secure it after you fold the grey vents down. It just falls off if you bump the table. I'll give it another look.

Its the same deal with P/CP's gun, at least mine is, it wont stay together and it really sucks! oh well, its the best it gets for now.

Folding the vent flaps down is the attachment, the only thing that holds it on is the pressure of the flaps against the gun. It pretty much sucks.

This must be a quality control issue because the engine piece fits snug and securely on the gun that came with my Red Alert. The part of the engine that folds down is hollow on the bottom and that fits around the widest part of the gun. It's held in place by friction, but I've shaken it many many times and its held in place just fine.

I have every version of this mold, and the one that fits the best is my G2 Sideswipe, because I shaved the plastic flash the right way. If you can, take a sharp blade and carefully carve off the bottom edges of the gun where the engine pieces clip. Look especially for flash spots.

Mine acts like everybody else. Not just him, Sideswipe and Sunstreaker have the same issue. If that bothers you too much, you can try wrap it around with the clear rubber band.

Thanks for the responses. I just leave mine in car mode but I may get another just to see if it does it too.

I have all three of them and Punch/Counterpunch, yet I haven't been able to get it to work with any of them.....

Mine falls off the gun with a slight breeze...Literally.

But it's nothing I'm worried about... to be honest I'm not sure I like the way it looks combined.

Kinda hard to explain how to do get it to stay on,but here goes, mind you I am using the Sideswipe version. The underside of the engine is hollow and that is the part that will clip onto the onderside of the gun itself. It might seem like a lot of effort to make it clip on, but it should hold pretty solid. Once you have it clipped on try to wiggle into place while holding the engine parts pinched onto the gun, that should ensure a tight fit.

On mine, on one of the actual engine manifolds (erm...the foldy part, whatever that it), it looks like the hole to clip it to the rest of the piece is off the mark just a bit, making the folding a bit...wonky.

I hope someone managed to figure out what I'm trying to say. :p

There's a G2 version of Sideswipe in this mold? I had no idea, is it an exclusive of some sort?

I was able to make the engine piece hold onto the gun! I was placing it too far up onto the barrel. For those of you who were doing what I was doing, just clip the gray folding parts onto the thickest part of the gun. It's a decent fit, and holds snug enough. Thanks guys.

Even though there are no real ways to make the engine fit tightly, the space underneath the intakes do have enough clearance to clamp in on the widest part of the gun, making it secure enough to withstand being held upside down (a vigorous shake will knock it loose though).

Ah, don't get too much more exclusive than that, I guess!
