For a recent Hasbro Q&A Cybertron.ca inquired about the Arcee sisters and their supposed combination and they got some info that there is indeed such a thing. Here's the exact question and answer.

Cybertron.ca: Is there actually combination instructions for the movie Arcee, Chromia and Elita-1 figures? And if so, when are they going to be online?

Hasbro: We're excited to say that the team has been incredibly busy preparing for the release of Transformers: Dark of the Moon. Unfortunately as a result, we have not had a chance to create the instructions which show the sequence for combining Arcee, Chromia and Elita-1 figures together. This still remains on our list of things to do and we hope to put this out sooner rather than later.

Oh thank God, I thought this was yet another thread asking how to combine them!

That answer seems to put to bed the question "Do they actually combine?".

Ya, you may very well be right. And even if we do get it, who's actually hopeful for the end result? I mean, if they were serious about the combination wouldn't we have had a new mold for Flareup? I have a feeling that even now Hasbro isn't sure how they're supposed to combine. I wonder if they're looking on Youtube for some fan combinations to use. Either way, we'll see it when we do, and we won't if we don't.

When we first heard about them combining, I was pretty hopeful for a pretty decent combiner out of them, and when we saw the art for Flareup I was looking forward to getting a figure of her. I guess none of what I wanted was meant to be.

this sounds to me like "We weren't going to do anything with it, but fans won't leave us alone so here an answer to shut you all up."

Isn't there an old fable about persistence being a virtue? Or am I thinking of the one about not riding a stubborn mule up a mountain that's prone to throwing itself off cliffs?
