I just received my 2010 Predaking reissue set. Decided to open it up and set the Predacons up on the shelf in 'bot form. Unfortunately, upon transforming Razorclaw, some of the gold paint on his right leg flecked right off! Not sure if this is a general manufacturing defect, or if I just got a bum set. I don't know what to do... kind of hesitant to touch anything else in the set.
Has anyone else received their set and noticed this issue?

Prior to the release of the Predaking, we have some concern regarding the gold paint on plastic syndrome. From what you are saying, this doesn't sound too good. I was gonna purchase one. Let see what others have to say.

Got mine yesterday... haven't noticed paint problems but there have been a few minor issues.
Headstrong's Hologram came off for no apparent reason... can easily be glued back on but still kind of irritating.
Razorclaw's left leg peg for Predaking is oversized and takes quite a bit of force to push into both Headstrong and Tantrum.
Razorclaw's arms are extremely stiff in robot mode and I'm afraid to rotate them. There is a metal axle from shoulder to shoulder which the arms are attached with a plastic black cylinder, this cylinder it seems should be quite flexible for the rotating action yet looks brittle.
Similar can also be said of one of Rampage's arms, they also sit on a metal axle by plastic black cylinder but the cylinder looks way undersized and the arm requires too much force IMO to pull out.
Razorclaw, Rampage and Divebomb robot mode hands seemed to be poorly aligned and require an annoying amount of fiddling to extend and retract them properly.
Most of these issues are mute since it's just in Predaking mode, which sure looks good on my shelf finally.

I'm lucky enough to have the 20Th anniversary version of Predaking, and I can honestly say I've experienced none of the issues mentioned. I genuinely considered getting this latest reissue, however after reading this post, I'm sort of glad I didn't.

Word of the wise here - if you have a problem - do not I repeat, do not tell the wife.
With any luck, you'll be fine and you'll not have to hide anything.

Problems with mine:
Rampage only had one eye painted gold.
Razorclaw's hips are so weak that if Predaking holds his arms out, he flops over at the waist. I need to balance him with his right arm supported on the horns of his right leg.

Predaking vintage flops forward regardless of versions(mines the 1986 btw) so no need to worry.

Oh, trust me, if there is a problem, I won't say anything. She did spend alot of money on it (plus the wings), and I did bug her really bad about this one. So even if it's falling apart, which I'm sure it will be fine, i'm going to love it anyways.

Question about this set, does it have diecast parts or is it all plastic?

there are diecast parts (funny you missed a heated thread i was part of

), but its not overwhelming...mostly in the individual figures waists, with the exception being headstrong's (the rhino) back...

i'm presuming 'shinny' meant 'shiny'

, & you'd be correct... the red & orange plastics have a kind-of pearlescent quality.. if you follow the link for my pictures in my signature, you can see (slightly) some of the sparkling effect it lends in some of the shots...

not to get you overly concerned or alarmed (or the wifey

), but there were reports in the past about the add-on wings scuffing up the gold decals & black plastic of the standard wings... i know it was acknowledged by the manufacturer & supposedly they were working on some kind of fix.... does anyone know if this is still an issue?

Yes, the scuffing of Divebomb's original wings is still an issue, but Crazydevy, the manufacturers of the add-on wings, have already made a (sort of) fix for the problem. The fix consists of adding a ("complimentary") new pair of thinner wings to the CDMW-11 wings, which fit on Divebomb and to Predaking's back, and which replace the original pair when adding on the large CDMW-11 wings.
See
this topic for all the information and for pictures of the replacement parts!
