UK seibertron.com member Wasp-shot23 has sent us a very interesting e-mail, the e-mail is interesting since it tells us what he has found. The Universe 2008 KMart exclusive Mini-Con Multi-pack, blind-packed with a bunch of sweets!
To our US readers, sweets is the British word for candy.
He has also supplied us with a photo of one of the blind-packs:

The Mini-Cons inside of these packs are supposed to have different decoes than their original KMart release, also these blind-packs might be exclusive to the UK as the sweets inside are UK made.
One pack costs GBP 1.99, Wasp-shot23 found his at a Tesco service station.
There are 12 Mini-Cons to collect.
Here are some more images showing the difference between the original and new UK Brimstone:

So, sweets to the sweet!

How do we know that the paint applications are different?

He said so, but I would prefer if he sent us a few picks of the figures.

Going back and reviewing it, I think he said Tesco service stations.

IF these are different, I would appreciate someone in the UK helping me out in obtaining these. I will be more than willing to send some US exclusives your way.

I can tell you that the pictures on the packaging show the same deco's -at least as far as I could tell when I saw them in The Entertainer toy shop a few weeks back.

I have the 12-pack, so I didn't buy any and, thus, can't tell you if the actual figures are different.

If they are different, I can imagine it's likely only in the way that some of the 12-pack mini-cons differ from the stock images, like Skyhammer's face:

I'd be happy to help a fellow mini-con fan :D

Ah, thanks. Will check my local Tesco out on the way home. Need to go anyway. I'll pick a few up if I find them.

Also, I would love a hookup of a full set.

If anyone can figure out how many are in a case, what the distribution is, and what a full case costs, it may be more economical to ship a case to one of us in the states for redistribution.

Im not too much into mini cons. I pick em up at the flea market when I see em used in a pile of small toys. But I dont like em enough to buy blind and gorge on junk candy to get em. Thats a little too extreme.

Interesting!

Seriously though, I want. Buying sweets and getting a toy. I want.

I'm also eating the "candy" now. It's far too sugary for kids so I will have to say this product is not suitable for them, only collectors (adults) should eat this.

Here's what I said in the email:
I have found packets of sweets on sale marked as being under the Universe sub-line containing single repackaged (and mostly redecoed, i think) Woolworth's (UK) / K-mart (US)exclusive mini-cons from the 2009 Universe 12 pack.
All 12 are available; I got Brimstone in a slightly different paint scheme: the mustard yellow is replaced with bright green and the dark green replaced with a lighter shade. this seems contrary to the packaging, which at first glance appears to show all 12 mini-cons in their original paint schemes but on closer inspection does show subtle differences to the original releases.
For those in the UK who are interested, this assortment seems to be UK exclusive as the packet states "confectionery made in the UK" and as far as I know is only available in Tesco service stations (that's where I found mine). The item was priced as £1.99 and contained s handful of sweets as well as the mini-con (I got 4 cola bottles).
(I will post images as soon as I can as the news submission form contains no facility to attach images.)
also the packet shows a 2010 trademark, so it's new.it also says "manufactured by The Little Factory under license from hasbro" does this mean theyre not made by hasbro? there is a hasbro logo on the packet.

here's the pics:
i've included a comparison shot with the original 12 pack brimstone. as you can see the yellow's gone and you can just make out the green on thw wings and arms is different. i dont know about any of the other figures being different paint schemes as the package shows them as they were originally.
there is no mold degradation as far as I can tell with this figure. the legs are loose at the knees but otherwise everything's solid. the wings actually appear to have more positive ratcheting (is that what you call it?) / notched jointing than the original but that might be because i've worn mine out, i'm not sure.

Cool, can anyone say stocking filler? I guess we won't be hearing complaints about the UK not getting stuff. £2 for a minicon and some sweets, bargin.

I got mine from the Tesco petrol station in Broadstairs, Kent.
if I get any duplicates, I'll let people know through either the uk sightings forum or here. Pm me if you want them (that's if I get any, I've already got the original 12 pack so there isn't really a reason for me to actively hunt these down.)

No man, you're missing the important small detail...

There ARE (at least one) confirmed variations.

Welcome to Thunderdome...er, Micron collecting.
