Pretenders

Now with Bludgeon and Generation Thunderwing and Skullgrin and upcoming Thuderwing repaint Blackshadow, is it possible we will see more Pretenders get new homage figures.

Is it any chans we will see reissues of the G1 pretenders or will it only be homage in new figures.

probably not be any reissues (although, it might be cool) but I'd be up for more homages. I'd like to see Catilla and Carnivac show up in a modern line. Octopunch and Stranglehold would be nice too, to fill out Bludgeon's buddies, and give them proper weapons at last as well.

That depends on which Pretenders have had an impact. I myself would like to see a Crossblades, with a Blue Bacchus remold to complement Thunderwing's Black Shadow remold.

Id rather have a Landmine or Road Block. Preferably with Roadblock being a repaint of Landmine.

Quick thought - wouldn't it be cool if Landmine looked like the pretender shell and in robot mode, had a twisting face in his mask that went from human to robot?

The shortage of marine/boat/submarine transformers make we wanna have Submauruder and Waverider homage. but i agree with your choices.

G1 Octopunch/Stranglehold/Bludgeon need some one as Crazydev to make them proper weapons.

I would love a Classics-styled Octopunch!

So did Grimlock, so that's all four of that version of Pretenders.

Oh yeah! Cloudburst and Chainclaw too, all purely for sentimental reasons but it would be super awesome for me..

I actually have had a few Pretenders in my time (Landmine, Roadblock, Crossblades, Jazz, Grimlock, Starscream) and I have to say that Crossblades is my least favourite one. His alt-modes are all pretty poor.

I am very fond of Landmine, though. :D

ya'know what'd be nifty-- an autobot pretender where the figure inside the robot is a modern style microman of, say, metalhawk, & you could have his robot head off (suit mode) or on (robot mode), & with the figure removed, the robot could be transformable.. i think with today's design ability it shouldn't that tough (?)

I think zonkers means that Metalhawk could have a mini figure like the original Microman pilot from the Diaclone line that would look like his human "Hawk" form and have a helmet for when he says "Suit on!" to make him armored before turning into his larger robot self like he did in Masterforce.

That would be very cool. ;)^

actually i was thinking more like a full size modern style microman figure to represent 'human form' Hawk, similar to our buddy Kicker, here, then build a suit-on form around him, which could be transformable (albeit probably with the figure removed).. glad someone got it, although this is probably a bit if a stretch, even for a wish-list item :-)

Oh, you want full size. Not sure how well that would sell outside of Botcon? :-?

While I enjoy Masterforce, I would not be interested in something like that. But, for people who collect non Transformer action figures like the Star Wars line or the Marvel and DC lines, that could work.

Forget my Botcon comment, I think you may have something here. If you've got connections you might have a real moneymaker! :ic$:

I just want GI Joe (or Microman) figures of Spike, Marissa and maybe even Daniel. (oh, and Old Snake!). There's plenty of ways for them to expand a sub-line like that, or they could do them as pack-ins with larger figures, like the Human Alliance toys.

I would love to pick up Robot Hero sized human characters (not Robot Hero style, though, something more show/comic/movie accurate that maybe can ride legends class ROTF Arcee for scale and poseability).

Three packs would be cool, since most series seem to have three main human characters. Plus, in some cases we could have packs with older versions of the characters. So something like this for the G1 cartoon (and Japanese continuation):

1. Spike, Carly, Chip Chase
2. Spike, Carly, Daniel (see how the first two are older?) :P
3. Sparkplug, Raoul, Dr. Arkeville
4. Jessica Morgan, Marrissa Faireborn, Astoria Carlton-Ritz
5. Shuta Go, Minerva, Cab
6. Wilder, Cancer, Bullhorn
7. Hawk, Lander, Ginrai
8. Giga, Mega, Clouder

I think those would be cool to have, with 5-8 in civilian attire, and possibly sold separately as "Masterforce."

wasn't there a post sometime back indicating some kind of transformers/g.i. joe crossover, particularly mentioning a snake eyes figure on a transforming motorcycle that had an 'armor' (suit-on, if you will, maybe even mospeada-ish) mode?

if there was, I certainly didn't notice it. could be cool though.

there is no way in hell Hasbro would try to sell us a 3-pack of female figures. I personally would be putting a pre-order in ASADP but the big H have some theory that girl toys don't sell as well. I'd expect that even if this line were to happen, we'd get one Carly, and maybe Marissa. Can't/Won't comment on the Masterforce lot, I gave up trying to watch it a long time ago. (I do have a bit of a hankering for it now though, so may start watching again)
Dr. Arkeville is surely a must, seeing as he was in GI Joe and TF. I also think they'd package Chip with Daniel if they were doing this, since the smaller size of Danny would make room (and budget?) for Chip's chair. Of course, there'd need to be a special pack with Spike and Daniel in Exo-suits too!

edit: I just remembered this topic started out discussing Pretenders! Well, it's unlikely to ever happen, but it's be cool if they did a line of Pretenders in their shells, like a Super-posable Marvel Legends style Bludgeon, etc. I can think of maybe 2 or 3 times I saw Bludgeon transform anyway, so I think it'd work ok. They could even use such a line to include Transformers characters without officially seen alt-modes. Xaaron and Alpha-Trion for example.

I can't help but see PCC Undertow as a bit of a Diver homage...
