Absolutely no chance at all, actually.

They will tell you to return it to them for a replacement... and they'll just send you back a random Deluxe they happen to have n hand, with maybe a 2% chance it's Thunderwing.

You're better off either returning it to the store you got it from and getting a new one, or jst plain getting a new one and using that one for parts or to keep in vehicle mode on display.

Not sure about returning it. I picked it out as a christmas gift to myself weeks ago and haven't seen another in any local stores since, looks like I'm stuck with a messed up Thunderwing then.

I kept my Ramjet, which has two left hands. These QC failures are interesting collectabilities.

Sometimes they can be damn annoying. I bought a Henkei Starscream from ebay for $22 shipped. I knew that he had two of the same legs. I bought it because I thought it was cheap and didn't think it would bother me that much. With one leg that bent forward and the other that bent backwards, it started to really bug me. I ended up winning another Starscream MISB for $27 shipped and selling the first one. The new one was correct and the first one I ended up selling exactly what I paid for it so it worked out.

I got a Henkei Starscream that matches that description and price, if you sold yours on ebay then it's probably the same one (it was perfectly pictured and described as having that defect, so I was fully aware of what I was buying) and I also ended up getting another one lol.

The same thing happened to me a few years back with Animated Black Arachnia, except that she had two left hands. I simply took it back to the retail store where I purchased her and exchanged her for another Black Arachnia. I was just glad the retail store had a couple more of her in stock at the time.

Now I'm facing the same problem once again, except this time it's FansProject's Sidearm that is sold separately from their Protector (i.e. Armor/Trailer for Classics Hot Rod to make him Rodimus Prime). I started transforming Sidearm into his gun mode when his forearms wouldn't "snap" together. Turns out that my Sidearm came with two right forearms/hands.

I've e-mailed the online store of which I ordered both items about my dilemma and I await its response. I'll keep you posted.

You could always order one from www.hasbrotoyshop.com. The site currently has Thunderwing available and although you'd be hit with shipping at this time, at least you'd get a replacement hopefully without flaws. Of course if the ordered one turns out to have two right hands, then you're twice as screwed. Then again, if the ordered one turns out to have two left hands, then hands can be exchanged, leaving you with one more Thunderwing than you needed.

This just happened to me with Skullgrin from Target a few weeks ago. Fortunately they had a bunch of them, so I was able to return the first and then carefully examine the remaining selection on the isle before repurchasing it. Before I left the store I went to the service desk and asked if they had a scissor I could use to open the package and make sure it really did have the correct hands. It did, I thanked them, and I was very happy with the in-store service. :APPLAUSE:
