So Im planning on selling a few old figures that I really don't like or want anymore. Yet... I keep getting that guilt feeling and remember the good times I had with the figure. How do you guys go about your business selling/ getting rid of figures?

Simply by not parting with the figures.
So far, I didn't sell any of my figures that I didn't have multiples of. Giving them away is out of the question, except for family members whom I know will keep them intact.
Selling... I know I will get lower prices for them than what they are worth to me, memories attached, and they'll be worth much more years later.

heres what i do. dont sell ALL of them. i look at my transformers, and out side of G1/G2/Beast Wars/Classics, everything is gathering dust. it took me a while to bring myself to do it, but the one thing that helped me do it was the knowledge that they are just things. parting with them will not remove the memories of those good times. we can't live in the past forever. keep the ones that bring you the most joy and sell the ones you know will make someone eles happy. you could be sitting on an action figure somebody lost long ago that for him/her holds special signifigence. even selling a part coud make some one eles's colection that much better. hope any of that makes things easier

I had a moment where I thought I had outgrown collecting Transformers. I had just about every Armada figure out there, and I decided to give them to my brother-in-law. I so now regret it. I did keep my Starscream, and I managed to trade my Classics Devy (which I also now regret) to get back Unicron. I would suggest contemplating it really hard before selling any of them. If you still feel like selling them, I would like to know what you are getting rid of. I'm always looking for growth in my collection.......

To me it also helps to know who you are selling to. A seller I regularly buy from said he knew his figures would be in good hands with me, so that could take the sting out of it a bit. It also helps selling/buying from friends instead of from total strangers, that's what I usually do. A friendly chat will more than suffice

Guys, I don't mean Im selling ALL of them. Im just selling the ones that have no use for me. But yet there is still the memories attached to it. I like the thoughts though from yall. Some are old and some just came out recently I just dont want. Its to get some dough so I can buy a certain stolen chinese Mad Max...
The ones Im contemplating selling are, for the one who asked: ROTF The Fallen, HFTD High Speed Spy Battle Sideways, HFTD Hailstorm, RtS Fallback, ROTF Demolishor, ROTF Preview Bumblebee(Might be a freebie, his automorph is sticking), and a set of all 5 G1 Superions with no parts and guns. Total junk for parts.
I might also put up for sale Wave one of PCC because me collecting the series is now a lost clause, and maybe an MIB Infiltration Soundwave and Battlefield Bumblebee(no insert, but pristine box+ the Special Edition Ravage). I have some things for the yugioh fans I have not put on sale yet. None of the items I have for sale yet, but soon I should.

I just gave away my Animated Prowl to my friends daughter today actually. I had a little pang of apprehension but i got over it quick. Really.....i never touch the figure and it's fun to get the younger generation and especially girls into TF's.
I've already given her and another buddies boy 4 or 5 TF's now from my collection and I know their parents wouldn't otherwise buy TF's for them so that helps me give em away.
I do it for the kids

To answer the question: I've never given away/sold a figure. Ever. I mean, why buy the figure if you don't plan on keeping it? The only time I ever lost a figure was when Katrina wiped out my house and I lost close to 300 figures.

I give mine away in time, tho I always keep stuff that I consider sentimental.Others get bought as fill ins that I know upon purchase will be given away as soon as I get my version of the real deal of that particular character..
When I do pass them on, I always tell the kid to pass them on again when they don't want them anymore.
(Sometimes I keep the weapons to use as Warhammer 40k terrain: I gave away some g2 Turbomasters to my Wifes Nephew on New Years Day and will be using the throttles for Ork Lobbas. It's immoral, I know...but he got an Electronic lightsaber as well as Animated Shockwave, Soundwave, Bumblebee and Energon Landmine (without his Wagon, which I'm converting into a Ork Battlewagon. It's immoral, I know, but he got an Alternators Hound as well as...you get the idea...it was a big bag).
(Edit: Animated Shockwave nearly became an Iron Warriors Predator tank with 'Terrain modifications-Grav' as per the Vehicle Design Rules).

I sell stuff on the boards and later on eBay as a last resort.
I give away figures to kids/people on occasion or to sweeten a deal I'm working out.

I only sell a figure if I can make more than I paid for it, if not, it stays.
I usually sell on here, or on ebay. And if something is to the point that it is pretty much worthless, it goes to the kids.

For me I just sell them on eBay. I'm currently selling all my childhood 80s toys. I'm a huge transformers fan but in the end they are just toys. I feel like holding onto things is like hoarding or idolatry. I'm saving a couple G1s just so I can say I have them 20 years from now.

Last time I parted with figures (trades, not selling/giving away) was in the 80's, and I still regret some of those. So yeah, not doing it unless it's with a really crap figure I don't like in exchange for something really cool I do like.
Maybe if I had doubles for some reason or something I could do it.

Gotta let that one go buds. The 80's were a long time ago.

Yeah the figs Im selling are just crap or of no practical use for me, or it has no "in your face I have this" value to it.

I'm doing the exact same thing. I'm getting ready to sell a few g1 figures that I don't really like. Its more to justify buying new figures both in terms of $ and space.
I'm going to start by selling some go-bots I have. I'm new to e-bay selling so I figure if I screw something up and don't get very good prices on them, then I wouldn't bother me as much as the TFs. I do feel a tinge of 'guilt' more over breaking up my childhood collection. However. I really don't like Quickswitch and I always figured he would be first on the list to sell. Someone might like him, maybe.
