Takara Breacher.........another awesome figure!

I'm like over 8 months late already with an already great design of a scout class figure. He was like sold out in my country(the International version that is) and Seibertron's high res pics didn't help the situation at all :P (great pics btw Ryan).

I just wanted one and finally, secondary prices not withstanding( got him in online at retail price range)found the Takara version at RK.

Using Ryan's pics as a comparative reference, Breacher keeps looking better and better.

The difference in the packaging? With the exception of Japanese character credits and the absence of the HFTD label in front, Takara used a darker colored plastic with some minute silver colored flakes flakes spread all around the dark blue color and comes with the bane of all modern TF packaging...........the aforementioned wired twisties :BOOM: . The USA version was said to have come with the new paper twisties.

And for a scout, his transform mode is quite intricate and after closely looking at him,

http://www.seibertron.com/transformers/ ... 2164/1/49/

some aspects of his robot mode looks eerily familiar

http://www.seibertron.com/transformers/ ... 2251/1/65/

No complaints here though so the lines between 3rd party designs are now blurring?

Overall, I really like the amount of details given to him. From his face mold( reminds me of a Navy Commando), his gundamesque fists and just about everything. If I have a tiny complaint on him, maybe colored his Autobot symbol red but given he is included in the more modern movie toyline HFTD ( his partner Seaspray (so Breacher is G1?)is supposedly the same G1 character so maybe for nostalgias sake.........)

So though it pains me to do it, admit this is officially my 2nd Bayformer movie related figure (please correct me if I'm wrong that HFTD line is not a Bayformers fig)

Yeah he's alright. His hands are WAAAAY too small though. I can't get over them for some reason. I hate them as a matter of fact.

I've never seen hands so tiny on a figure that size. Fun transformation though but i gotta give him away or sell him. Can't stand those stupid little hands.

But he is a scout sized fig, so the hands have to be small.

That's accurate. Another packaging difference is that TakaraTomy doesn't use glue to affix the plastic bubble—which is nice if you care about preserving the backing.

I have mixed feelings on the darker blue used on the Takara version. A problem with it is that the green paint for Breacher's eyes doesn't pop out the way it does on the lighter-colored Hasbro version. Other than that, though, I do like the darker blue.

Also, there are some imperfections in the left hip socket on mine that cause that leg to pop out rather easily. :(

Hm… I hadn't noticed that; but I see what you mean. I'm chalking this up to coincidence, though.

I think Breacher just might be the best Scout-class figure yet. Skystalker is a close second; and the forthcoming RTS Windcharger just might have them both beat.

That said, I'm a bit annoyed that the diameter of the clip points on his fists is a bit too small. His gun is wobbly there and falls off easily.

So though it pains me to do it, admit this is officially my 2nd Bayformer movie related figure (please correct me if I'm wrong that HFTD line is not a Bayformers fig)

HFTD is mostly a Bayformers line…except when it isn't:
  • Sea Spray is supposedly G1 Seaspray the same way that Universe Ultra Class Powerglide was G1 Powerglide. He's in HFTD because Generations is Deluxe-only. (And apparently Hasbro didn't feel like releasing a Universe figure.) Given Breacher's relationship to Sea Spray, he's arguably “neo-G1” kind of like RTS/United Lug Nut.
  • The origins of Bludgeon's design are unrelated to the Bayverse and the aesthetics draw heavily on his G1 appearance.
  • The Lockdown character comes from the Animated series; and its aesthetics—while distinct from the Animated ones—aren't all that consistent with the Bayverse. I wouldn't be shocked to see this mold show up in United at some point in the future.
There may be some other (arguable) exceptions that I'm overlooking at the moment.

And Blurrz had the audacity to call me mad for nominating Breacher as one of my favourite figures for the year...

nice try but those hands are smaller than any other hands of any scout class figure. Yes i know it's not really important but when i look at him i notice them immediately and it throws the whole symmetry of the bot mode off for me and i only display in bot mode. He looks malformed and stunted to me.

I regret buying him......does anybody need a Breacher with instructions? PM me.....i;ll give em to ya.

EDIT: actually, nevermind. He's getting donated to my buddies kid. SOrry

P.S. in my descriptions of Breacher it should have read " minute silver flakes" spread all around the dark blue color.

Sorry if it sounds confusing.

@monstergrotosque

Sorry that his wee fists didn't come up to your liking.

I just ordered Breacher with Sea Spray from hasbrotoyshop. I wasn't going to to get any movieverse figures, but I picked up Banzaitron last weekend at Target and like the look of him. I think will take the movie figures case by case. Besides a lot of the PCC figures have a similar aesthetic and I don't mind them.
The Takara Sea Spray's color scheme looks brighter and more G1 than the Hasbro. I don't think I have any import figures in my collection at all. Why start now.

You won't have any problems fitting Sea Spray into Neo-G1, and Breacher too for that matter: his vehicle mode resembles Micromaster Groundshaker's ATV. His Japanese listing even identified him as "Groundshaker" at some point.

That's funny, I have g1 groundshaker and was planning on selling it. So, this will be a good replacement.

I think he's more of a Dropshot homage: http://www.tfu.info/1990/Decepticon/Dro ... opshot.htm
