I never really liked Alternators, but just recently I've started to get much more interested in them, and am thinking of buying a couple to bolster my ranks (Titaniums make great leaders, but don't work so well as soldiers), but the line's been around for a while and I hate coming into a line just as it's on its way out, so I was wondering, are Alternator's here to stay or is the line drawing to a close? And how good are the figures? Are they worth the voyager pricetag? Any specific reccomendations?
Man that's a long first sentence...

Love em. My favortie line. Great alt modes, fun transformations, great likenesses, mostly. You can't go wrong with the Subaru, Jeep or RX-8 molds. Pick up Shock/Laserwave. You'll be hooked. Totally worth 20 bucks.

It's the first TF line I went completist on. Smokescreen hooked me. That mold is fantastic although I prefer Silverstreak over him. The Jeep mold is nice. Hell, they're all pretty nice. The only ones I'd avoid are the Prime/Nemesis Prime and Windcharger/Decepticharge molds. They're my least favorite of the bunch and they seem to have the least articulation from what I remember. As far as Alternators being here to stay, we don't know yet. There is an SDCC exclusive Rodimus coming toward the end of July but that seems like the only upcoming release at this point. The most we know is that the line is on hiatus for now. Unfortunately, It's one of my favorite lines to display. They go nicely with the Masterpiece figures very nicely. I hope that helps.

It does help, since I plan (if I get some) to display them with my Titaniums. Dead End and Silverstreak, here I come!

i agree totally, they are my fav. line, and the toys that really got me back into collecting. i think they're perfect. it's what i had always seen so many characters as. even with a few flaws (jazz being a miester, and battle ravage - wtf?)
but they're great, and all is need is #27.. course that's how i felt last year with nemi, and then waiting 9 months for rav and rumble to come out..
anyways.. you won't be dissapointed

Im actually hopping that they take advantage of the movie (with the licensing that Bay has for the cars in the movie) and release movie versions of the line, ie 78 and/or 09 Camaro as Bumblebee and all the other "big name" characters in the movie that are cars...
I really got into the line mainly because they are LICENSED scale models of the car they transform into

I'd have to call the Alts the furthest the Transformers line has ever been taken in its original concept form: realistic vehicles that change into robots. The detail's terrific, the robots have rarely matched articulation, and they correspond to G1 characters. They're also worthwhile to customize. I'd go for Mirage, myself. He's top-of-the-line.
