HK-TF member 島耕作 got his/her hands on RTS Perceptor and showed the a pic of the back of the card. The bio reads as follows:-
"Perceptor is one of the most brilliant scientist ever produced by Cybertron. Much of the technology the Autobots take for granted is due to his discoveries. It is rate that he actually builds or invents anything himself, but his insights make it possible for engineers or inventors to continue the page of technological development."

Never mind the bio, where's the instructions? I want to see "not-Perceptor" and see if they were true to their word about Reflector.

While some people seem to be fond of complaining about him not being a microscope, I feel this vehicle mode is totally suitable to a modern day Perceptor. It looks like the sort of craft you'd see rolling around a test site or snooping about a mountain where a new rare mineral was unearthed.

I agree with everything. And he still has some aesthetics that nod back to his g1 character model to please even some that may not like the alt mode

Looks like it should read:
"Perceptor is one of the most brilliant scientist ever produced by Cybertron. Much of the technology the Autobots take for granted is due to his discoveries. It is rare that he actually builds or invents anything himself, but his insights make it possible for engineers or inventors to continue the pace of technological development."
(Sorry I'm wierd about this stuff...)
Anyways! Definitely looking forward to this release!

So ... he doesn't actually create anything but the Autobots take his technology for granted?
That sounds dodgy to me. For all we know he could be the guy who chairs a meeting on weapon development and that's his contribution. He gives the other engineers and scientists their orders and then takes the credit.
I can't help but now think of him as Dilbert's "Pointy Haired Boss"

I really want Perceptor, but i've seen pics of the United version and decided to go that route and i thought since Perceptor is not a microscope, he is based off of IDW comic version like how Drift and Blurr is?

Perceptor makes all the scientific discoveries that make such technology possible. A bit like the idea* that Einstein discovered how to make an atomic bomb but never directly worked on it.
*not a very valid idea, but that's besides the point

He's the Edison to Wheeljack's Nikola Tesla. One is the "greatest inventor of his age" and the other actually invents things.

Perceptor couldn't be better manifested in 2011 aesthetics, TBH, if you really got that big a problem with this rendition, your a tool. No seriously. your a tool. Honesty being foremost. If you're going to complain about a G1 iteration that actually brings perceptor into a realistic realm of classic figures, as well as makes him look badass, you can just bite the big one.

Just one little question: What's an "atool" and how is it mine?
But yeah, I think he looks great. I'm really getting my hand on his chromed awesomeness. I bet YOU'RE thinking the same thing, eh? See that? I used a contraction of "you" and "are". "Your" is the possessive only. Never does it mean "you are".

Cannot wait for this figure. I hope iGear gives us a IDW based Wrecker head. That would be epic.

Hahahaha, touche, sir, touche. I've been waiting for someone else to take note of people using your instead of you're.

Nope, his vehicle mode is actually inspired by his Animated appearance. I'm awaiting the revelation of the third Microscope mode it had, basically a truck with a Microscope in the trunk. And stick with the Hasbro version, for once: that version has lovely chrome!
And for all "He should be a microscope" whiners out there: the G1 toy had a third tank mode. So there

The only complaint I have is that he isn't in Generations packaging. I think they made a fairly decent choice as far as his alt. mode. He's going to be a very welcome addition to my G1 reboot collection.

It's reveal the shield but then there's a big autobot symbol on the top of the packaging....

I've always hated Perceptor's alt-mode, but liked his bot-mode. So the fact that this manages to have a bot-mode very close to the original character model while not being a microscope makes this thing awesome.
And yes I want to see the instructions and the repaint head now, please.

Sweet! thanks Jelze for the info and Hasbro will be Chrome? very interesting and so the United will or will not be Chrome or just painted silver? but hey, if hasbro is doing the chrome ill go that route.

It's a combination of IDW (which was some sort of tank thing kinda like the original toy's 'extra' mode irrc) and Animated (which was a truck), with a G1/IDW type bio.
To me the bio reads less that he doesn't do anything, and more that he does the research and design work that other scientists and engineers would need to work up from. He doesn't build the weapon, he researchs the tech that's needed to make its power core and such.
It feels like they're trying to give him a matchup with Wheeljack, who is a much more 'hands on' sort inventor.
