I'm heading to China several times this year including next month. Anywhere in Shanghai or other larger cities to buy Transformers?

My wife went to China for work a year or two ago and I posed a similar question here back then...I don't think I got too much info. Anyhow, I don't think she went on an all out mission to seek them out, but she did keep an eye out and made some effort to find a place that might sell 'em, but didn't see any. Hope you have better luck...

There must be as I import all my wholesale transformers from there.

Robotkingdom as well as many other popular online stores are based there (hong kong specifically)

might want to email one of those online stores for more info.

As far as I know, China is Hasbro territory, as Takara products never see regular release outside Japan unless licensed via another company, like Hasbro or Sonokong for Korea. The Diakron line in the 80's was an exception.

I am sure stores import from Japan though, I am just speculating though, based on so many online toy stores basing themselves out of china

Because that's where the factories are, thus they get stock in first.

makes sense, I would assume some of these online stores may have brick and mortar retail locations in the same area.

Nope, online stores don't have buildings aside from offices and warehouses.

in Canada they do, Ages Three and Up still runs a retail location in addition to its online store. I am sure there must be examples of this stateside as well.

*Raises hand*

There absolutely is. You have to have an actual brick and mortar to order from certain companies. A good example is Playmobil. You must have an actual store to buy from them, not just a website.

But China doesn't play by the same rules.

I must add that China did get Takara Transformers at one point, especially the Victory series. However, I read somewhere that Leozack's mold was broken during that time...

So I have China to blame for my lack of a liokaiser reissue? Bad China Bad.
