I would really rather pay a little more for the "Real Gear" toy is they actually did something. Like making them a working flashlight, or a cheapo digital camera, or having the video gamer one actually play a cheap LCD game.

They are Roleplay toys. Like the Voice changing helmet and the transforming blasters. We've seen several of them so far. No bot modes, just switch from a toy phone, camera, flashlight, etc, into some kind of toy weapon.

Blurrz, grats on post 2000!

This is an interesting idea from Hasbro. It's obviously not going to appeal to us as adult collectors that much...but I suspect that the age group the toys are aimed at (5-10 y/o) will like them....something they can pretend with. If they function then all the better. Doubt I'll get em myself (at least until they are on clearance and only for wall decoration)...

Congrats on the 2000 post Skowl.

Don't bash poor poor Erector. He's a yellow crane, its not his fault they came up with a name worthy of the Kiss Players line.

Anyway, Brawl I like him more in the larger size, just love the arm cannon.

Not much for the role playing sub line. so I'll probably pass on these. They both look like they light up with 3 triple a batteries apparently

So Real Gear are T.E.C.H. now? So people couldn't distinguish the wave 1 toys from the actual electronics they're modeled after? I wonder if the same people wanted to open Jazz and drive him home from Target.

I wondered that too. Who would buy a toy for $10 thinking that it really was a working digital camera?

Better question, why not put some budget into it and make a more expensive robot that is ACTUALLY a working digicam?
It wouldn't even need to be 1 megapixels in quality, just the resolution of a super-cheap webcam.

So, so, SO many missed opportunities...
