QC issues with Battle in Space

Okay, i just picked up the Battle in Space 2-pack with Rodimus and Cyclonus, and quite frankly I am disappointed.

Their color schemes look great (mostly), but there are some rather irksome quality control issues with both figures.

Let's start with Rodimus.
  • His head looks like it's ready to split open in half. The front and back halves aren't secured together.
  • His shoulder ball joints are flimsy and loose, as they flop around too much.
  • The button on his missile launcher requires extra force and to be pressed a certain way to fire his missile.
  • Many of his joints are uber tight and stiff, unwilling to move easily enough during the transformation.

Now for Cyclonus:
  • His nose cone tip is bent downward instead of straight.
  • His joinds are exceedingly tight and stiff, moreso than Rodimus'
  • His arms don't retract into his shoulders very smoothly. I have to kinda fiddle then into there.
  • His rubsign had fingerrpints on it before I even took him out of the (fully sealed and unopened) package.

I'm actually considering returning this set to Target in exchange for a different/better one.

Anyone else have these kinds of issues?

I'm not very interested in the Battle in Space set, but I have heard that there have been a fair number of QC problems with it. Many are mentioned in this thread.

My Rodimus had issues, but nothing seems wrong with my Cyclonus. I feel like my Rodimus is a KO for some reason when I look at tit.....

This set is a great idea, but the quality should've been the same as the originals. Then again, I'm going to assume that the Rodimus mold has been used too many times that it's now producing poor quality. Like I've mentioned in another thread, my real problem with this set is Rodimus's left shoulder joint - it's extremely loose. The other problem is the paint's durability. One wrong move with my finger nails and it chips off the paint. I think the quality of the figures depend on your luck. Like all things, sometimes you get a defective item, sometimes you don't. I'd say, go and exchange it for another set. Maybe you'll get a better quality item ;)

Out of all the issues you mentioned the only one on my BiS pack is Hot Rod's left shoulder ball joint pops off during transformation, other than that everything is perfect with my set.

That seems to be a common problem amongst the set. Luckily, it's easily fixable with either super glue or nail polish. You got the better of the sets :D

my Cyclonus is on par with my original one, but my Rodimus has stress marks on both his shoulders. I'm not sure if they were there when I opened the box, but I've only transformed him once.

Seems odd that so many complaints about loose joints, mine are tight as tight can be.

Add one more to this club. I have no other problems but that.

Yes. If you have a problem with that, then perhaps you shouldn't be posting here.
If, on the other hand you were attempting to be silly/sarcastic, again, a bad idea.

No problems with neither one of mine.

Except Rodimus looks kinda cartoony, LOL

I do like the Matrix of Leadership though.
Very heavy and solid.

The only problem with my set were stress marks on his left elbow joint as soon as I moved it. The pin seems to be very tight. Otherwise the set I bought was fine.

yep, just picked this up too and all the problems listed here are present in mine as well,....figured hasbro woulda released something that didn't FEEL like a KO.

seriosly, the plastic used on BOTH of these is almost as light as paper and feels like it'll break if i sneeze within 5 feet of them... :-(

Really now? I thought that was rather funny myself. If in fact you were trying to be a total douche while cutting this man down for being slightly sarcastic, you succeeded admirably. One would think that a person who collects TOYS from a 25+ year old CARTOON franchise about transforming robots from outerspace would have a sense of humour. :APPLAUSE:
