I think this is one of the worst figures of all time. Horrendous. There are no other words to decribe it.
Robot Mode:
- This must have supposed to have been the fourth bad guy from Inhumanoids. It doesn't look robotic at all.
- Most ubnalanced figure I have seen...in the middle of the bottom of his foot is like a pedestal, so that he can't stand flat on his feet at all.
- No head movement at all.
- THose lines across his eyes make him look sleepy.
- Mine has loose leg joints
Vehicle mode:
- Those arms just look lost. It kind of reminds me of Cybertron Megatron at the point where you go from car to Jet Mode by moving the sides forward to make the nose of the jet, but you just leave them hanging out there.
- The head looks stupid just sitting out there.
- Are the wings suposed to look like a bat?
- WTF is with the back of the plane?!!?! It almost look like it can all clip together nicely, but no! His ass just sits up on the tp their ding nothing. And wait till you try to get his legs positioned under his wings. That's a fun one!
And the back of the box has a completely different head. I think it was the original head design, but it looks so much better! And the paint on the figure in the picture is like Cybertron Galavatron, so shiny. This thing looks like a prototype.

I found that attempting to follow the instructions in order to "correctly" position the legs for the transformation was an exercise in anger.
It's like, I know where I'm supposed to end up and how I should get there, but it doesn't go well at all.
Plus there's the fact that in all likelihood, you'll end up creating those small stress marks on the codpiece just by transforming him.

It's a figure I definitely don't understand. I think the Voyager version looks better.

I love it too, and aside from Counterpunch making some excellent points I've agreed with since I got the figure...everyone else makes me cry. And Megatron too.
[Lovitz'd]...he just wants to be loved, is that so wrong?![/Lovitz'd]

its definitely a figure I would want to get, but I would only get if it was repainted in robovision metallic silver and the face was in a greyish metallic color instead of Black..as well as the rest of the joints and such... ith the pink gone and the blue diminished alot!!!
Still I like the basic design..even if it has its quirks.. I just hate the damned coloring..

I buy every TF, it would make less sense to not buy one.

I just noticed, the arms are different lengths. And his finger touches his foot when standing straight.
EDIT: I like how the instructions say that the arms o together to form a fusion cannon, but it only shows one arm!

I'm going back and start collecting G1. I hated blocky G1 but the movie line changes my mind.
Whats the name of the guy who drew the blue print for Megatron in movie line again

They do actually...
Flip the wrists away like you would for vehicle mode. If you look at Megatron's right arm, you'll two little notches on the wrist, and on the left arm's wrist as well. Those two snap together, you then flip out the gun and it's a two arm cannon. They completely skipped the step, but it's real and it works.

Oh yeah! Didnt notice that. They join together on the joints for the longest fingers.
My only gripe with leader Megatron is that the unfolding weapon on his left arm doesnt lock in place and returns as soon as you let go of the lever. Oh, there is also the fact that he doesnt look like a transformer.
I wish they had skipped the pop up wing and sound effect system in favour of a more complex transformation but overall I like Movie Megs - and I didnt think I would.

I wonder if the original head would have looked less conspicuous in alt mode.

OH MY GOD, YOU GEEWHUNNER!
The new Transformers movie is the WAY OF THE FUTURE for them!
Get out of the 80's and join all the NEW kids getting hooked on the NEW designs!
Vaudeville's as dead as disco, but you're still there in the past drinking 5cent "soda pop" out of glass bottles while driving around in your Model-T!
...
...
...
Just kidding. You're totally freaking right.
If the movie and these figures are what Transformers has become, **** me ever buying anything robot-lookin' from Hasbro ever again.

with barely any paint detailing, laughable poseability and a vehicle mode that barely keep his face covered, Megatron looks like some stupid 20 year old Gobot mold.
It's the year 2007 people, I think we can expect a bit more from such an expensive figure... funny how the little Real Gear figures have everything Megs is missing...

Actually most gobot figures hid their bot modes better then most Transformers. And alot of them actually had better posability then the first years worth of Transformers as well. So lets not insult the humble Gobots by comparing them to movie Megatron.
I actually like his design, from the movie images we've seen he's going to rock on the big screen. Unfortunately from what we've seen he's also the most organic looking of the Transformers, and I have a feeling that his transformation is so complicated that they simply couldn't pull it off with a toy. The Leader class Megatron was as close as they could get.
I don't think he's a bad figure, he's just not up to what I personally think a leader class figure should be. I may get him, haven't decided yet.

I like your assessment, i am confused as to whether to buy him or hold out for a repaint exclusive that patterns him closer to his movie counter part.. as I said, I like the design, even with the quirky flaws.. but I'm very disappointed in the coloring.. shinny metallic silver and darker gun metal silver with a hint of lighter blueish tones would have made him look alot better... as it is I can't see his evil visage due to the fact that he has a glossy black face, which makes him look like a POS toy, and not a Movie representation of Megatron in plastic form.. Who the hell designed his color scheme!!!?? Pink and blue?? it had to have been an expecting mother... No offense..

Blockiness.
That sweet, sweet, G1 blockiness, yes?
Not so bad now, is it? And they're even "movie" figures lol!
I have no further questions, your honor!

No, not blockiness.
Poseability.
Paint detailing.
Convincing alternate modes.

Lol, I know, I know.
But you have to admit, they're closer to G1/Diaclone than these other movie figures are. They're like upgraded versions of G1, not the CGI shard-bot look.
They're what the movie guys (Don Murphy, etc) called "unrealistic" and "blocky"... but they kick ass.

I'll probably end up getting him, if only to have someone for prime to fight.
I honestly dont know why everybody's surprised about how crap his toy is. If anything, everyone really should be surprised how not crap most of the rest of the movie toys are. I know I am.

I think you missed ALL of Beast Wars then.

Not true, mine can.
- No head movement at all.
So what? That's the case with several other figures.
And the paint on the figure in the picture is like Cybertron Galavatron, so shiny.
Photoshop.
This thing looks like a prototype.
Because the figure was MEANT to be all grey? Consider yourself lucky to get a few other non-movie colors in the mix.

No head movement on a deluxe is fine, but when I'm gonna pay 80$ Canadian for a Leader toy, damn it I want my money's worth.

The actual Cybertron Galvatron figure really was silver, and had a beautiful shine - no photoshop whatsoever. This is how Movie Megs should be painted.

Cybertron Galvatron can barely turn his head btw, and he has the most annoying ankles in TFs history. And silver paint on Movie Meg would look silly. This is by far my favorite Megatron in YEARS.
-Cybertron Megatron : robot can hardly be posed when combined with Dark Ligerjack, funky ankles ruin the figure.
-Energon Megatron : terrible deco and boring toy overall. Tank weapon is retarded.
-Armada Megatron : H-tank is decent, but robot mode is crappy as hell, and the combined form is even worse.
-RID Megatron : 10 modes, only 1 that looks like something, plus it's floppy as hell.
-Machine Wars Megatron : crappy toy, easy pass.
-TM2 Megatron : floppy neck in dragon mode, ugly robot mode that you can't do much with.
-TM Megatron : breaks every time you look at it wrong. too bad, it almost had potential.
-BW Megatron : now that was a good one despite having no hands.
