think the deluxe prime would've looked better. still say its to early for an animated botcon set you can still find all of these molds in stores & since theres very little remolding, they're not really all that special.

I think everyone was expecting a repaint of Animated Optimus Prime so it's no surprise. But I can't get past that head module remold. That box-looking remold is horrendous.

Yup, just like myself and several others figured. So we've got, essentially, a Shattered Glass TFA Voyager Prime with a swapped head that just barely surpasses 2 dimensional face detailing, that makes the team leader for a combiner team that actually doesn't combine, and this is the exclusive set for the biggest annual convention devoted to Transformers held on the face of God's green earth? I'm just a touch underwhelmed. Granted, I still like it more than most of the DotM toys I've seen but I still think that, after some of our past Convention sets, that the bar would be just a little bit higher. Just my opinion, everyone has their own tastes and for those of you that like this years offering, I'm genuinely happy for you but this one just isn't quite my cup of tea.

Dear FunPub,

Thanks for the laugh. Good way to start my day. Keep up the funnies!

When I look at the other figures in this set, their repaints/remolds make them look like entirely different characters. Motormaster looks like a Prime repaint that someone broke the head off of, and then stuck a lego block in there to look like a head.

This set is so very, very underwhelming, IMHO. I used to try and find these exclusives, but the recent ones just aren't worth it. I'm not even gonna go into box for a head Motormaster they've put out. I'm sorry, this is just horrible...

Wow......Motor Master really sucks. Figures they go the Optimus Prime repaint route. That head would look fine if it was on Wreckgar, but it just looks stupid on Primes body.

He still isn't a Semi, he is a fire truck.

Oh Motormaster, http://nooooooooooooooo.com/. The paint job looks great, that head is all wrong for the body though. I don't see why Wreck-Gar couldn't have been used. The body would have worked better all around and less resculpting would have been necessary for a new head/face. The chest windows just look kinda stupid. I actually kinda wish that they'd just gone wild with these guys now that we've seen em all. This isn't G1, why only gamble on the one figure (Drag Strip)?

Wreck-Gar without a remolded head sans garbage truck forklifts would have been the absolutely 100% correct choice for this without a doubt. They could have even gone the extra mile to give us a new Motormaster head on the Wreck-Gar body to make it a little more unique and everyone still would have been happy.

:KREMZEEK: :BANG_HEAD:

Who's got a few minutes to do a quick digital mockup of Wreck-Gar in these colors as Motormaster? I wish I knew how to do that easily in Photoshop.

This set is just poorly thought out.

They could have saved us the whole "drag queen" Drag Strip fiasco by calling the Dead End or Breakdown body "Drag Strip" and calling the Arcee mold one of those characters. Dead End would've been my first choice. That Arcee mold would have looked awesome in Dead End's colors (black and red). But instead, they went the typical fan boy route and gave us some fun immature drag queen innuendos instead (couldn't have called the Arcee mold "Wildrider" for innuendo reasons also).

I still think that the Blurr mold would've been the best Drag Strip usage. Because they're giving us TFA Cheetor, having the Blurr mold colored yellow again was decided against ... but I don't really recall anyone clamoring for a TFA Cheetor so maybe they should have done something different with those molds, or swapped the Arcee mold out of the BotCon set, used the Blurr mold for Drag Strip, and then given us Paradron Medic or something desirable out of the Arcee mold as a Club exclusive. Ah, what am I talking about? That would make too much sense.

I really wish they'd stop going out of their way to not do what they did in 2007. The BotCon 2006 and 2007 sets were two of the most well thought out and fan wank sets imaginable. Those sets were what convention sets should be all about.

 :BANG_HEAD: :BOOM:

This just in from Cybertron.

Th tyranical leader of the Autobots was overthrown today. Rodimus Prime has taken his plece. In order to make sure that his predecessor could not rebel against his, Rodimus has ordered the previous leader thought processor's removed and replaced with a more subservient CPU.

I love everything about the new coloring except for the head. I would have rather that they just used the base head design for the G1 toy without the box look.

One plus to this is that I now know how I'm going to make my combiner parts. Since I've got most of these lying around the house, I should be able to start working on making something that will help these figures combine.

I'm gonna get a Menasor out of this set if it kill me!

My only issue with that would have been that Drag Strip was a F1 car, while Dead End, Breakdown, and Wildrider were all street legal cars. Flip that over to the animated 'verse, and Arcee's cybertronian car fits the bill of a F1 car much, much better than Jazz, Rodimus, or Lockdown with their Earth mode styled bodies.

Vanishing Point already did one, and it looks great!

If the forks were gone/retooled, then ya, it would be a way better Motormaster...

That's closer to what I'm thinking of ... but needs some more TLC. It definitely looks better than Optimus Prime with a brick head for Motormaster.

Maybe it's because the BotCon Motormaster is black instead of grey. I think he would've looked better as a grey truck with black legs to match closer to the original design cues on the character. They took the cues too literally from alt mode.

I'm disappointed they went with the predictable Optimus Prime redeco, but I think they did a good job Animated-ising his head.

I actually don't have a problem with that head. I just have a problem with that head on that body.

Some things are not meant to translate well. Wyatt had a great idea, but it doesn't work with the actual Prime body.

And maybe that's what someone was thinking. I for one could care less about that and am more interested in the silhouette. I guess Blurr's alt mode screams dragster with those big ass wheels far more than Arcee's Cybertronian vehicle mode. Unfortunately, our discussion just further proves the dilemma the BotCon folks face with each of these decisions since you can't please everyone all the time.
