This figure is more than both Megatron and Convoy with significantly less diecast. My question, is why. Does anyone have an explanation? I placed the order, was just curious.

Size, strength of the dollar, import costs. That's the bulk of it right there.

Keep in mind that MP-04 was about $180 when it came out

There are several reasons why it costs so much.

1. God doesn't love you. (Or any of us TF junky's for that matter

2. Takara KNOWS they can get it out of you.

3. To make you start this thread.

I'm putting a disclaimer right now that I'm tired and I feel like being a little goofy so don't get offended. If you do then it's not my problem. My humor is just too dry.

It's not like Takara has placed a fusion canon next to your noggin.

The answer is: Yen to Dollar conversion rate, plastic volume, and 1st mold run compensation.

Also keep in mind, you're not just paying for Rodimus/Hot Rod himself, but his trailer/battle platform as well. It's more material than Prime or Mergatron by himself. I guess fair comparison would be to add Prime's trailer or Megatron's add-ons to the figure, and then you'd have a more comparable price.

And he's brand new. Like CP said, 1st time mold. Now, if they repaint the Hot Rod mode at least into some Stunticons or some figure with a similar bot/vehicle mode, they would most likely be cheaper. But don't hold your breath, I think Takara wants to do Galvatron next. Just speculation. Though I wish they did G1 Shockwave or Soundwave.

Cause Rodimus is a japanese import. Imports usually cost twice as much. I'm sure the Japanese over there are paying a hundred bucks for it.

That higher price is why I will pass on this one.

I want it but the price is a little to high IMO for it.

I'm sticking with the Hasbro version anyway. Even if it doesn't have the trailer. I'm just hoping the quality is better.

The trailer. Isn't that the same reason FP Protector is kind of expensive, too?

I dropped not too dissimilar cash on the MP-Grimmy form Takara when he first came out. Given that Hasbro have confirmed it, I'll wait this time....

I'm glad I waited for Grimlock to some to America. The price was FAR more reasonable.
