So TRU is clearancing TFA.. With a catch

I stopped by TRU on my lunch break today and noticed that the TFA figs were on sale for $5.99. I grabbed a Rodimus (even though I have one already) to scan it just to see if my hunch (this is too good to be true hunch) was correct .. It scanned for the normal price.. All other TFA figs were the clearance price. Looks like my hunch held true.

I loled..

TRU seems to be pissing off a lot of collectors lately with their insane price hikes (I visit several non TF collecting boards and have been noticing this trend).

Rodimus has a particular SKU number that is different (if I remember right). You could probably take him to the counter and make the argument that he should be $5.99.

I think it does too, only problem is all of the pegs had the new $5.99 and red clearance tag on them. All of the numbers on the pegs were the same.
I thought about doing this but determined it to bee to much trouble right now. I am sure at some point someone will do this. If I do it I will post if the honor.

That's why I never shop for Transformers at TRU. Since I really don't care for TFA anymore, I won't be picking anything up. I'm sticking true to RTS, some DOTM, and G1, baby!

The TRU near me has the same thing going on, but all of their Animated Exclusives are mixed in with the regular stock. They even have a bin right by the ailse full of Cybertron Ratchets.

When I brought my armfull of Animated Exclusives to the regester they all rang up at $16 a piece. I told them to check their display and they honored the clearence price.

On a side note, the same thing happend at the next TRU I stopped at 30 miles away.

I've worked for TRU three times before and I have never been an employee of a store that seems to care so little about their pricing or lack there of.

Good deal, at least they honored it. I may try it, then give the Rodimus to my 6 year old daughter.

I noticed that a few weeks ago. They are 5.89 and I was curious why all their exclusives were that low. That's taking a huge hit. I'm not an animated fan but Snarl has been in my hands on several occasions.

Yeah, I did the same thing with Ironhide last weekend and they changed the price.

Its come to the point with me that I hardly ever go in there anymore. Almost everything is overpriced by at least a dollar or two. I remember back before Christmas they were charging $16 for ALL deluxes, across all of the current lines at the time. I could literaly walk half a mile to Target to get them for half that price.

In short, TRU is just an absolute last resort for me. I won't even order off of their website anymore.

Interesting 'done with Animated' sentiment, I've gotten Animated fever with the Botcon reveals! Trying to fill in my Animated collection now, pondering these:

To Get?:
Black Arachnia
Waspinator
Blazing Lockdown (have regular, movie, axor, and stealth already)

To Open?:
Leader Bulkhead
Leader Magnus (G1 Colors), already have Roadbuster loose

Passed:
Cybertron Ratchet (have Ironhide)
Deluxe Ratchet (have Yellow Target version loose)
Deluxe Prime
Elite Guard Prime (not yet released, but already have Regular Voyager, Black and Wingblade versions)
Hydrodive Bee, can someone explain this one to me, I almost want it :P

Undecided (even moreso than the To Gets):
Voy Cybertron Megatron
Lead Megatron (G1), already have ShadowBlade loose

I was at a TRU a couple weeks ago and they had Silverbolt for $15 and Darkwind for $30. I asked if they'ed give me the latter for the former's price and they said no. Whatever...joke's on them since they had like 5 of them and they're not going anywhere. Bunch a richards...

This sale's been on for about a week and a half, since I went over to my TRU and got Rodimus for 5.98(I too had to inform them of the price) When I went to renew my Sam's club card.

Outside of Rodimus and Ironhide, I'm surprised there is any Animated left to get rid of. The only thing I've ever seen at the TRU closest to me were animated activators that I have zero interest in.

My TRU has been putting out cases of both Animated deluxes and voyagers for a while now. They must have had them sitting in a warehouse and are shipping them out to stores.

Holy crap! Sixteen dollars! That's insanity! They didn't even do that up in my parts to my knowledge. TRU is getting pretty crappy though. My local Target has been really slow though. Honestly, for about a month up until about a week before Christmas they had three Generations figures and eight HFTD deluxes. Now all they have is Tomahawk, Terradrive, Jolt, and Skullgrin. Of course Walmart is in the smae situation and TRU is packed full of ROTF and Animated. What really sucks is that almost no one buys TFs in my area except for the Holiday season and during "movie release seasons", so all these figures sit on the pegs and shelves for months and waves are skipped all over the place.
When DOTM comes out, all the kids are gonna run to TRU to find...Revenge of the Fallen...and Animated...that are overpriced.

Same here, Animated just started appearing suddenly out of nowhere right before Christmas.

hey me too im really liking the TFA line, great engineering, cool transformations and loads of character, i for one am completly thrilled with people dumping their animated toys.

if you even have the faintest interest in waspinator get the TFA version he is very cool, one of my favorites. i like blacharachnia as well but i do like all the insecticons and their kin.

as for blazing lockdown, well its up to you, i really like him, almost as much as the regular deluxe. if you see him cheap he is worth nabbing, his paint scheme is nice, but is worth touching up (i painted his spikes etc)

as far as leader megs... well i have both... you know i do really like the original colour scheme i feel it says "megatron" but i find that i goof around and display my shadowblade megs alot more. so maybe get him if you find him super cheap.

hmmmm v.cybertron megs... yeah me too actually... hes bot mode is frikken cool but that alt mode is seriously lacking... im thinking i will hold out for th transformers prime megatron as he looks excellent in both modes.

i just wish we had a tru here. i still have to pay double original retail for my TFs aaaah the wonders of living in the middle of nowhere in the UK...

I to live in the UK, and our local TRU has been dumping TF stock for a while. The last time I went was about three weeks ago and there was virtually nothing of note left.

I didnt have much of a choice in paying $16.00 for the TFA Rodimus & Cybertron Ironhide because Wally World never stocks anything new,Target never had them on the shelves, and I wasnt about to pay $25.00 a piece from some toy scammer on e-bay or BBTS.

They were Toys R Us exclusives anyway, so Wally and Target wouldn't have had them.

That's true but there were also other TFA figures that I only found there that were overpriced not only there but even more online such as Swindle,Oilslick,Elite Guard Bumblebee, and Dinobot Swoop just to name a few.
