My TF United Grapple arrived today. I have to say, I like it better with the yellow head rather than the black version of the US toys. It looks more like the original in my opinion. What do you guys think? Yellow or black head? Not pimples... the actual head color, I mean. I'm really diggin' this guy. Can't wait to get a review done. I just received my Universe Inferno which will be perfect for comparison.

The original toy had a black head, so I'm gonna go for the RtS version (plus it's cheaper!). The yellow head, along with Red Alert's red head, was animation only.

I know. I prefer something closer to the animated series rather than like the original toys. I honestly think that is why there's two different versions. One is similar to the original toy and one is similar to the original character on the show. Cheaper no longer concerns me. I'm finally to the point where I can afford whatever I want to get (although I don't mind getting the best deal I can).

Cheaper has to be a deciding factor for me, the RTS one will be half the price of the united one this side of the pond.

That aside the RTS version will match better with his G1 counterpart on my "then and now" shelf.

It only cost me about $20 more than the RTS version.

"Only $20 more" can still be pretty steep for some people, especially considering the minute difference for the added cost. All it is is the same black plastic head as the US version with yellow paint on it anyway, give me an hour or so and a small bottle of Tamiya paint and I can achieve the same result... not that I'm going to though, since I never liked the yellow head thing in the first place.

Yellow head for cartoon accuracy, so it's united for me.

(May grab the Hasbro one to use as Hauler, though...)

I just wanna know when the RTS Grapple will be released?

I like both versions but the orange United head is definitely better as he looks like an original figure rather than just an Inferno repaint which the RTS one looks like as lets be honest, the remolded head looks too similar.

black for me too-with REd Alert I prefer the Red but Black suits Grapple better

i'm definitely with you, bro. i plan on remaking either scenes or doing stopmotion videos of the original episodes, so the closer to the cartoon characters the better imo.

What's the paint quality like?

Another great topic that will never die i think, and should be called, "The Battle of the two Grapples" anyway, enuff of that, for me i will have to lean towards the United version cause i remember seeing Grapple more with a yellow head than black and dont forget there is another variation of the cartoon head, which i believe the ear tips are painted yellow and the rest of the head is black, sooooo this topic can go every which way but loose.
