Dinobots, why no Reissue?

This has perplexed me for years. Hasbro/Takara should have the molds, they released them again in G2. So what is holding them back? Are the molds degraded? Or lost entirely?

Supposedly they were to be reissued this year.

Unless those crap 25th anniversary scout repaints set of 4 deal counts? God I hope not.

So maybe we still see them, maybe we don't. I have them all originally, would love a nice clean set

I am not sure anybody outside of Hasbro/Takara know for sure but it's long been rumored that the Dinobot molds have been lost over the years possibly due to Takara selling a warehouse. It's also been rumored that the molds ended up in the hands of the company that produces the KO Dinobots which might explain why they are high quality KO. I have no idea if any of this is true, it's just rumors as far as I know.

The mods here have been hinting at a Dinobot reissue but they are probably just yanking our chains. In fact it will probably start again in 3...2...1...

Yeah....those KO's that came out a couple years ago are deadly! I wanted em real bad but they were selling for $89. Waaay overpriced.

Some reissue Dinos would be great. I got two of each G1 but i've never been able to get a really nice Sludge for some reason. It's hard to find him in good condition with tight joints. Plus those KO's that were released make me nervous to by Dinobots on Ebay anymore. They are that good.

EDIT-I have two of each by the way because i was able to find near minty ones over the years and i had to by them. Save for that elusive minty Sludge......HA! minty sludge. That sounded funny to me.

I actually did have the KO's not too long ago. I ended up selling them only getting about half of what I paid. I couldn't stomach having them in my collection knowing that they were fakes. I only paid about $40 each for them but even that was way too much for a KO. They are excellent (going so far as having the Hasbro/Takara stanps on them) but there are some subtle differences which can help you tell the KO's. One of these days I will get a complete set of authentic Dinobots.

B) Were we wrong about Leader Class Ironhide?

BotCon 2010 Clench made from Universe Tankor/Octane, but that was more of a mistake on your part. Got you a nice entry in the TFWiki though :P

That aside, I don't see a Dinobot reissue giftset happening any time soon, the selling price would be astronomical for figures that just transform and don't combine. Individually, I think only Grimlock would make the best chance of selling rather well, the rest, not so much.

All the G1 Dinobots are a sure seller. Japan wise that is. In the US market, given all the safety regs, I'm not sure either one will pass.

See, now that's unfair. That was more of a practical joke by Funpub, and a pretty mean-spirited one, too.

Dinobot reissues would be sweet, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

I lol'd and I was on staff at the time. I'd like to see the TFWiki link though, just for giggles.

I believed the reissue Dinobots thing until someone said something Devastatingly amazing would happen this year. But Devastator and the Dinobots reissued. In the same year? And next up Hasbro will reissue Fortress Maximus and make an original G1 Arcee.
When I saw those scouts Dinobots in the set I got the joke. We TF fans love to get out hopes up and the slightest hint of news that sounds too good to be true and there we go again on the road to eventual let down.

If there aren't any more G1 reissues this year then, no more G1 Masterpieces after Rodimus then after I get Scourge, Wheeljack, Rumble, Frenzy and Masterpiece Optimus Prime at the end of March Generations Warpath will be the only figure I buy all year as I'm not going to buy any of the DOTM toys, ditto Prime. My wallet is looking relieved.

TFWiki on Botcon 2010 wrote:After images of Streetstar were leaked onto the internet, a cooked-up image of Clench as a redeco of Universe Tankor was found and reported by some as being true. Later on, the BotCon site was updated...with artwork of the actual Clench. A bitter lesson for scoop-hounds.

Link. There's a dead link on the word "scoop-hounds" in the article. I didn't remember there being an entry associated with that word before, so me thinks someone wrote up a stub, which was later redacted.

Here's something classy the TF Wiki does...

It takes potshots at this site in several different places and uses Seibertron's images without permission.

Yey.

I'd be down for Dinobots. Twice even, Devastator too.
