Encore Sky Lynx question

Considering picking up an Encore G1 Sky Lynx.

Can't see a classics update of Sky Lynx in the near future, so i'm wondering how he'd look in a neo-G1 display.

I seriously don't believe he would look too shabby in a neo-G1 display, but then again, you never know if they WILL make a neo-G1 Sky Lynx. In the meantime, if you have a G1 shelf, I'd put him down there, but it's your decision.

To me, he'd look pretty good.

The one big advantage you have with the G1 Sky Lynx is that he's in scale with fighting Predaking. Sadly, that comment just made me aware of how little damage Predaking actually did in the cartoons.

Anyways, I'd say go for it. You will not regret that purchase. I made the purchase back in 2008 and have been very satisfied.

If you don't already own Sky Lynx you might as well just buy it.

I'm more of a G1 guy over reissues but whatever.

I was stoked to buy him but was sort of disappointed at the same time. I would REALLY like to see a newschool version of him done very hightech and with lots of articulation. Make his bird mode very long i;e his neck and tail with big wings and the lynx really beasty but like i said, tech looking at the same time.

He's a pretty cool character that way. Being a very advanced piece of technology in alt mode but his bot modes are all animal.

So i think he should be considered by somebody out there as a candidate for a revisit and give him the figure he deserves.

If he gets reissued it'll be as a Legends sized figure. Or a repaint of Cybertron Scourge or something. Sometimes G1 goodness stays in G1. If you want a proper Skylynx you may as well get him.

It all depends on how comfortable you are with a brick in your Neo-Classics collection. He's actually got more articulation than most figures of his era, and his size keeps him big even among deluxes and some voyagers so I think he'd look really nice as long as you don't expect him to do more than just sit there and look cool in the one or two poses he can actually perform.

On the whole though, I highly recommend him. I've got him happily with my G1 stuff, but keep in mind his Encore release, in my opinion, had much more to do with the popularity of the toy than the popularity of the character. Considering all the missing season 1, 2 and movie characters they're trying to crank out I sincerely doubt a relatively obscure character will get a modern update anytime soon. Even moreso since he'd need to be voyager class minimum to be worth it, by sheer plastic weight alone, and Hasbro seems pretty content with focusing on the deluxe class at the moment. If he's at a good price and you've got the cash, go for it.

He's one of the few G1 figures I own, and I think he looks pretty good in my Classics collection.

Yes, Sky Lynx may have been released in the G1 line but he's such an unconventional figure that you can't really just lump him in with the rest of the G1 figures that wouldn't fit in with "modern" collections.

His price has also dropped quite a bit, I actually snagged one for $30 not too long ago and he's worth every penny.

That's pretty much what i was thinking.

Thanks for the positive responses guys, reckon i'll go ahead and pick him up.

RTS Strafe can stand in for SkyLynx in your CHUG display, if your imagination would allow it.
