Go United Kup or go home

I don't usually gush over a figure, or even bring attention to one, but, I wanted to throw this out to you guys who may be on the fence between getting United Kup vs. Generations. The paint on United Kup is A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. I realize that Kup is the old guy and wouldn't typically be thought of as nice and shiny, but you really are doing a disservice to yourself if you don't check this guy out. The metallic doesn't show up in pictures as well as in person, and when you hold it, it just feels special.

The same goes for Tracks, but I think most people can justify that one better.

I was pondering the United version, but in the end, decided I'll stick with the Generations one for the short term, then use the damaged one from the e-Hobby pack as kup to signify his old age.

With the cygar head from iGear of course ;)

Right now, I can't afford much from United, but if I could, I would pick this up, and others that have only slight variations that aren't a huge upgrade from the HASBRO version.

Don't get me wrong, the Hasbro version is still great, but the paint on United is something special.

It's sweet, but not worth the extra cost of importing.

I probably would if I wasn't going to get the eHobby set. I'm just happy I'm not at your crib to be persuaded to buy something...AGAIN!

I solved this problem the way I usually do: Buy 'em all. ;-)

This. Generations Kup is fine and dandy for me. No need to drop so much extra for essentially the same toy.

I'm sure the paint does look great as I have both versions of Tracks and the United one kicks the RTS one's ass even without the proper hood action, but it's still hard to justify the cost here. I'm contemplating just taking the silver sharpie to his rims and calling him good, but I'm still debating if I want to permanently alter my Classics figs, even if it's a MAJOR improvement. I took the sharpie to the rims of the Sidearm Sideswipe I grabbed on sale from TRU over the weekend and I absolutely loved the results!

To each their own, but I personally find the difference is worth the cost.

If it were one of my favourite characters or I was still living in Japan I would buy the swankier Takara version. But it's only Kup.

I agree.

Personally speaking, filling out the Autobot cast of seasons 1 & 2 is top priority.

Kup is, at best, an Ironhide wannabe ;)

I prefer Generations version. Why? I got to hold in my hands. I liked the paint job,and I do have the other Kup for preorder with the battle damage. Plus I only have two Cy-gar heads to go around so.....and Kup is at home waiting to be opened.

I'll be buying United Kup, only because the Hasbro version is long sold out in my neck of the woods.

Picked up united: kup, wfc prime and megs, voyager megs, WG, blurr, SW and jazz. Don't regret it and all of them worth it.

I strongly agree with you. TT have gone a bit crazy with the metallic paint and used it a few times when it hasn't improved the figures but actually detracted from them. BUT in Kup's case it absolutely makes the figure, the mold is superb and the metallic paint is like the cherry on the cake. Ditto Tracks. :BOT:

on the packaging for united Kup, he is shown with his Cygar! igear should do big business with their replacement head.

Perceptor is also amazing in person, that shiny red and silver really pops.

really they all are. The differences might seem small in pics, but these figures really look different in person. Kicks hasbro's versions down a flight of stairs.

Yeah, I thought he got unfairly savaged by quite a few people in other threads. Loving the metallic paint. He rocks! :BOT:
