A couple years ago when the Hasbro MP Starscream came out, it was painted in the anime colors but it had this black "weathering" paint on him to make him look...well....weathered. Videos and pics eventually surfaced online about how a little rubbing alcohol would take off that "weathering" paint and unleash a nice, clean Starscream, including a nice blue nose cone that was "weathered" a pure black.

Today, while transforming my MP Skywarp for my son, I noticed that when I looked inside SW's nose cone the inside of it is actually purple. That got me wondering if the outside was purple too. It never dawned on me that black Skywarp's black nose cone might only be weathered black and is actually purple ala MP Starscream.

I didn't want to get too froggy with my figure just yet and I didn't come up with much via google search. Does anybody know if you can clean up SW's nose cone to reveal a purple underneath? Anybody seen pics or heard of anybody doing this? Tried it themselves maybe?

It may be painted purple inside.

Nope. Just checked mine, and it's molded in black with purple paint on the inside.

However, someone might be able to give you some instructions on painting it that way, if that's what you want it to look like.

Id' say that nosecone is definitely molded in purple, and painted black on the outside... Meaning if you were to use any kind of paint remover on it (preferably one that doesn't harm plastics) you could take the paint off and have a nice purple nosecone on Skywarp.

I'm gonna get busy on both. I hate my starscreams silver streak down his back. When I first got it I posted it here thinking someone customized it.

I'm thinking its molded in purple too. I can't seem to get off the fence if I want mine to look that way or not. I like my figures to be anime accurate and other than some stray examples, I think the nose cone was mostly black on screen. But I'm also willing to accept a few changes in the name of making the figure cooler too. Post a pic if anybody actually does it. I'd love to see it.

Hmm...the more I look at it, the more I can't tell what color it's molded in. Specifically, I can't tell if the inside is painted purple that didn't get painted at the edges or if it's painted black that bled to the inside edges.

The outer black does seem to be a slightly different shade from molded black. I think you guys might be right...
