Help Needed: Cybertron Leader Optimus Prime

So he finally came in the mail today, looks and functions pretty well, except for one tiny thing. For the life of me, I can't get the wings to attach. They're pretty much impossible. I've been trying for about 20 minutes, and still nothing. Is there something I'm supposed to be doing that I'm not doing? The instructions make it look so easy...

There's not much to it. You ope up the black straps and slide the prongs under his arms, then close the black sections over his shoulders until they snap in place.

I don't mean attaching the super modes parts, that's easy. I'm talking about attaching the wings TO the super mode parts.

They are supposed to already be on. If not, you have a broken toy. You should be able to reattach easily, though.

No, dude. The toys were packaged with the wings tied to the sides of the box by plastic wire.

When I got mine back in '06 the wings were attached. Maybe it's repackaged. Some people will carefully open packages and sell them in the future and repackage them perfectly. Maybe the seller broke 'em.

Trust me, if the wings were attached, it would not have fit in the box.

They just snap into the slots next to the tires. It might take some pressure, but they do go in. Slide one side so the small peg fits in the hole, and press down on the other side so it snaps in.

Then you may have the Japanese version, Galaxy Convoy, or maybe even the repaint repackaged with Crumplezone. Plus, between Japan and the US the backpack was retooled, the Japanese version has a metal rod securing the wings, but the US version made the wings removable, thus less prone to actually breaking.

I've been trying to do that for a while, but I guess I could try again after breakfast.

He couldn't have the Universe version, because that came out in 08 and he says he got his in 06.

No. Last time I got a Transformers Cybertron Prime was in Wal Mart in 2006 when it ORIGINALLY came out and everything was attached. Even when I got it as a two pack with Wing Saber in '07 and Galaxy Optimus Prime (The U.S Version, durrr) they all had the wings attached. Maybe packinging varied.

I guess so. The instructions varied, too. The first panel on mine's instruction manual was to "Attach wings as shown."

If the wings were attached in package, it was the Takara Galaxy Force version.

Here's the US 2-Pack with Wing Saber:
http://cgi.ebay.com/Transformers-Cybert ... 45f668a14c No attached wings.

Universe 2-Pack with Crumplezone: http://cgi.ebay.com/Transformers-CYBERT ... 5adf9ede2a No attached wings.

Galaxy Force Optimus (Repaint): http://cgi.ebay.com/Transformers-RID-Cy ... 483bbe606d No attached wings.

I could go on and on, but you get my point.

Also, in any color variation, TFU.info lists them among snap on accessories.

BTW...anyone notice the prices? Geez. When did he become expensive??

If I got it when it just came out in the U.S and it had attached wings then they varied to boxes. May someone remind that hasbro can make mistakes. Maybe the attached wings were mistakes but they were NOT japanese otherwise there would've been japanese writing on it and last time I checked they don't speak english on their boxes.

First off, it sounds like you're getting rude with me, don't.

Second, no one said Hasbro's perfect. I know they make mistakes.

Third, just because it's a Hasbro package, doesn't mean it's not a Takara figure. People do figure swaps all the time. Yes, even for an inferior product.

Fourth, don't think you're going to school me with lines like "last time I checked they don't speak english on their boxes"

The OP asked a question, others posed questions, so I went and found proof that this is how Hasbro packed and sold Optimus. My post was a general info post, it didn't even make reference to your post, nor was it quoting any of your's. If you take offense by facts, then that's on you.

Don't get uppity with me because I helped answer some questions.

You did nothing wrong. There's no need to feel bad about it. I just hope the info in the thread helped. And yes, the wings do snap in, and it's rather difficult, but not impossible.

Sounds like to you, and it shows that you can't take plain writing with a little bit of emphasis.

Autobot032 wrote:Third, just because it's a Hasbro package, doesn't mean it's not a Takara figure. People do figure swaps all the time. Yes, even for an inferior product.

Only if some retart that worked at Walmart swapped packages, since I did get it when it originally came out, in 2006, not from some person on ebay, I don't think that is possible.

Autobot032 wrote:Fourth, don't think you're going to school me with lines like "last time I checked they don't speak english on their boxes"

Nice first impression, but no.

Some people don't use quotes to respond to others' posts, for example, Skywarp here didn't use any quotes for some sections of this thread.

There is no intention of an arguement, and it seems to me your just getting cocky. This is Seibertron, and if you have a problem with me or if I have a problem with you, keep it to yourself/myself. Simple rule of Gyrotron. Thank you for your time.

Gyrotron, are they attached as in with a pin driven through, or were they just pre-connected?

Pre-connected. Maybe some person at Hasbro Factories accidently attached them. It could be a mistake I just did not hae to experience attaching the wings.

I suspect you might be misremembering, as looking at MISB pics, there's no way the attached wings would fit in a box that size with the figure in robot mode. I don't remember having to attach the wings to mine either, but looking at pics it had to have been detached.

I can tell from experience. The wings attached would NOT fit in the box.
