Defender Optimus Prime's knees?

Hey there! Long time lurker reader, first time poster. ;)
I've had my Defender Optimus Prime for about a year or so, and I've always had a problem with this knee/thigh area.

You see these two....er....tabs here?:

Well, when he's in robot mode, they only go this far into his thigh area:

(I appologize for the blurry photo)

If I even try to get him into some kind of action pose, his thigh/knee part comes undone and he falls over. He pretty much just stands on my shelf, looking rather bored.

Is there anyway to fix this?

I've got the ROTF version of them mold... and while I've never had the same problem as you, they do fit rather tightly. It takes a bit of force to click the pieces together, and then to pull them apart again.

If you've tried forcing it, and it doesn't fit, I would think that very lightly (i.e. a small bit at a time) filing the tab down might help.

Like Autobot Strider says, it is a tight fit, but those parts will snap together, it is a very tight fit. I did the same thing as you(this was my first Voy Prime) and knew I was doing something wrong. I really like him after I figured out to use those tabs and he gets some nice poses.

Yeah like Strider said, you have to use a lot of force, and I'm pretty sure everyone would have to do this unless there are some slightly larger holes (the paint is probably bulging) in their prime. Have fun connectin'.

Even if you get those tabs in (I don't have that trouble on mine) his weak floppy ankles will limit poseability.
