It's a bird! it's a cassete! It's.. What is it?

I wasn't sure where to post this. ^^;

So, I found this guy on ebay. He's certainly a cassette. He's certainly a Laserbeak/Buzzsaw birdy bird.

However, he is.. Blue. And he doesn't have any markings on him. And.. I am confused.

Who is this birdy?

Mowst likely a KO of some kind, though admittedly I am unfamiliar with any pre-TF appearances. Though his lack of marks would lean more to the former than the latter.

Total KO.

The Pre TF versions are hard to tell apart from the TF ones.

So it is.

Looks to be of decent quality though. Go check to see if there's any Reprolabels for the guy and he'd make a decent minion.

Actually looks like someone's project. Paint is very uneven and the wings look painted/markered.

No rarity, unless well, you consider it's probably a one of a kind custom.

EDIT: Looking at it again, that's sticker wear and a old paint, so no custom, but definitely not official.

Totally a Knock Off (fake). There were three official colors for the Microchange Condor cassette mold: red for Laserbeak, yellow for Buzzsaw and blue. The blue one was unreleased in G1 at first, but e-Hobby released the mold in that color as Garboil, along with a blue version of Ravage as Howlback. Interestingly, Howlback is female ;)

Garboil and Howlback, and yep, those are the ones. The word "garboil" actually has a meaning: "confusion" or "uproar". So it's not a typo as tall. Howlback's a legit term as well, meaning "feedback".

You heard me right, Howlback's a girl ;)

Thanks for that mate, I genuinely thought his name was Gargoyle and I've even got them in my collection as well. I guess it's true, you do learn something new everyday.

I still want the Ehobby cassetes. I don't even know what they're worth currently.

O, there's still plenty left in my internal light-matrix data storage system. I'm like Rewind in that aspect, really.

Yeah, definitely not a custom, I had the exact same one back in 85 or so. Bought it at K-Mart. They also had brown Ravage knockoffs some kids in school had, and orange Constucticons (which I only wound up getting one of, I think it was Scrapper).

As for grey/blue Laserbeak, his head wound up snapping off and in a way it was actually damaged, not just detached. I may still have his parts in a box in the basement somewhere, but I'm not sure.

Interestingly the knockoffs came with little microcassette cases unlike the real ones (at least the real ones released in the US)>

Don't think those cases are unique to the KO. In Japan, the cassettes of both faction were sold separately (as in, not in packs of 2) and even came with a case for storage. Now that's stylish.

Yeah, but in the US the cases were KO only, that's all I'm sayin.
