TRU had DOTM figures, but wouldn't sell them to me.

I stopped by TRU today, hoping that MAYBE they'd have some DOTM toys out, and lo and behold... there they were! Not much, but they had all four of the Basic HA figures and all of the new "Legends" figures. But when I went to the register with Icepick and Sandstorm, the girl was like "Uh-oh, it says we can't sell these until the 15th" and she called the manager and he came and took them and said they couldn't sell them, and went off to find the dummy who put them out early.

Funny, I recall reading something somewhere (that may or may not be true) that said if a store had something on the shelves that wasn't under a recall notice, they were legally required to sell it to you. I haven't tested the validity of this theory and product release dates though...

I've heard that too, but I think it's urban legend. Even if there was a law like that (which I greatly doubt), it would be a state law, not a federal law (the federal govt can only regulate interstate commerce), so it would differ from state to state.

That's when you grab the figs and haul ass outta the store. And when the bacon comes for yo ass, just tell 'em you tried to pay for the sh*t, but the bichez wouldn't take your dough...so you thought it was a gift.

Sound reasoning, I suppose.

Haha, I would've flopped onto the floor and started kicking and screaming like a spoiled brat until he sold me the TFs.

^^^This is probably more effective though.

Im curious to see how the different chains are going to handle this new line and their release. I know Tru wont normally budge on street dates. Wal mart will normally bend the rules and target might as well..Would be cool to hear peoples reactions when they see" Do not sell"..

Tried getting Sentinel Prime with the DCPI number and when the lady came from the back she spouted the street date and said she can't legally sell it to me.

Actually the rule about them having to sell it if it's on the shelf is a law. You can look it up to and throw it at them if need be.

If they argue, you just need to tell them that they shouldn't have been dumb enough to put it on the shelf.

I've done this a few times and have got my stuff.

This is weird, today I went to Target and they precisely one DOTM Voyager Prime in stock. Remembering what others had said here, I took it to a price scanner and sure enough, it had the price at $19.99. I took it to the cashier and they sold it to me without any questions asked. I wonder why TRU is being so anal about the street date???

Because TRU has the street date come up when you attempt to check out...Target doesn't have that programmed in their system. All it takes is for someone to overlook the 'do not sell before' on the shipping box and you're home free.
