Another Prime, another black repaint. This time the figure is exclusive to the Japanese convenience store chain Lawson for those who also purchase a ticket for the 3D showing of what is known in Japan as "Transformers: Darkside Moon" The total cost of the figure and movie ticket will be 6,760 yen, or around $70.



In addition Lawson will carry an exclusive metal strap for attaching to cell phones or handheld consoles.

You may want to add it's a repaint of Battle Blades Optimus Prime, and not the Leader, Diem. Just to avoid confusion, false hope, and fan-rage.

I want it.

Why do I want it? Because I'm still in the "black repaints are awesome!" stage.

Dark of the Moon = Dark Side (of the) Moon. It was probably done to ease the Japanese pronunciation of the title, as Japanese doesn't have that much of a distinction between h and f with certain vowels. If anything, the "fu" sound is noticeably softer compared to English, to the point of it sounding like a hard "hu" (hence the Engrish "Fu fu fu").

Intentionally or not, it's a clever reference to the Predacon ship in Beast Wars, which was retroactively called "Darksyde" from the line "Welcome to the dark side" in the cartoon.

I'm glad that I don't jump through hoops for movie stuff. That or feel compelled to buy black movie Prime figures. Thank God my mania has limits.

Oh ok that makes sense! Thanks for clearing that up for me. And that's a pretty cool reference to BW.

For you? God only knows. LOL! For me, $500 for Henkei Wildrider and exclusive movie stuff. I appreciate and enjoy so little of it anyway.

That price seems like over-kill, we'll see if it shows up more plentifully on eBay.

I'm interested in this guy (cuz I love me some black repaints!) but a buck and a half is just crazy for a Voyager ... that's what the Leader Prime black repaint was in 2009.

I'd go $100 shipped for this guy tops, same as Black Animated Voyager Prime, and that was a 1200-1500 piece exclusive.

Already have the Leader Class one so pass on this one.
