Wave one hit the shelves of Big W, and wouldn't you know it, Autobots out numbered the Decepticons, 2:1. Bumble Bee, Ratchet, Skids and Road Buster vs Starscream and Crankcase in the deluxe range.

In the Voyager range, Optimus Prime and Ironhide vs Megatron.

It got me to thinking about the movie.

Autobots:
Optimus prime.
Sentinel Prime.
Bumble Bee.
Sideswipe.
Ironhide.
Ratchet.
Mirage. (red car)
Roadbuster.
Topspin.
Leadfoot.
Silverbolt.(check IMDB)
Wheelie. (check IMDB)


Then we have the Decepticons:
Megatron.
Soundwave.
Starscream.
Shockwave.
Crankcase.
Laserbeak.
......
......
......

It seems the Autobots have out numbered the Decepticons...
It toys as well as in the movie.

Will there be more Decepticon characters instead of drone canon fodder for the Autobot's weapons?

You think that's outnumbered? There wasn't a single deluxe sized Decepticon in the entire RTS line. (no Cyclonus doesn't count, because he's in a 2 pk priced higher than deluxe price point)

Isn't it a universal rule of marketing that good guys always sell better than bad guys?

Haven't the Autobots always outnumbered the Decepticons, even since the G1 days? Sort of makes sense though, Decepticons are war machines, a single one is probably as strong as several Autobots combined; not to mention have better military tactics. The Autobots rely on numbers to get things done ... not to mention that people usually want more good guys than bad guys (as was said earlier).

well, if I make 15 good guys and 1 bad guy and package them 1 each to a case, I'd bloody hope the good guys sold more!

and I always think that's a bit sucky, the Heroic Autobots, ganging up on the Evil Decepticons. If you seen 10 cops beating up a guy in the street, just because he could transform into a cassette recorder, wouldn't you think there was something wrong with that?

I don't think of it as 10 cops versus one bad guy, I think of it more along the lines of 10 civilians versus one highly trained military operative. Yes they may have the strength in numbers, but they have worse firepower, training, and tactics. Just like in the real world, just because there are more people on one side, doesn't mean they have the advantage - one tank can do a ton of damage versus a bunch of people with pistols.

Except in TF prime. where there are drones everywhere. Thats why i want the vehicle drone toy
