I popped into TRU the other day and noticed the DOTM line is out and i picked myself up a Megtron for 30 bucks! a bit pricey.
Then i checked out the deluxe figures. They're priced at 16.99!! WTF?
Then i looked at the price tag of the HA scout sized figures and they are priced at 15.99!!! CRAZY.
Megatron is the ONLY figure i'm getting from this line. It's too expensive. Not to mention pretty weak.

That's odd because all deluxes are under $10 right now and all voyagers are under $20 at Walmart. HA scouts are also $10. Maybe you should avoid TRU? They tend to have ridiculous prices.
Edit: Oh I see you are in Canada. I have no idea what prices you guys pay for TFs and what stores you have.

and our our dollar is stronger than yours.....Hasbro is making quite a killing off of us Canadians.
As much as i like Megatron (although he is in serious need of paint apps) he's not worth 34 dollars!!!
It pisses me off seeing the low prices you listed above. It's quite a substantial difference.

I moaned about this at the start of the week, but what's annoying me more now is the fact that the toys are smaller yet way more expensive!
Voyagers - DOTM average £25.00 (= $40.00 / €28.00) Previously £23.00 for the last line of RTS/Generations/ROTF. From the OP/Megs/Ironhide I've seen so far they look nearer to ROTF deluxe class size.
Deluxes - Don't know, none have appeared in Glasgow City Centre yet.
Cyberverse Commanders - DOTM average £10.00 (although I saw them in one shop for £14.00!) ($16.28 - $22.80/ €11.50 - €16.00). Previously Scouts were £7.00 - £8.00
Cyberverse Legions - DOTM average £6.00 ($9.77 / €6.87) previously £3.00 twice the price for the only class that's stayed the same size.
I can honestly see me buying very little of this line 'til some sales kick in. One Glasgow store had their annual Spring 25% off sale this week but as of yet have only put out the Legion class figures, grrrr!

At least you don't have to pay out the butt for health care.

And that has what to do with this topic? And since you raised the topic, the British NHS is not all it's cracked up to be and at least when you 'pay out the butt' you have recourse to complain or be compensated when it goes wrong. And it's not entriely free either, between taxes and having to pay for a portion of some parts of the service (eg dentistry) we pay enough for our supposedly free healthcare. Add to that Britain is generally one of the most expensive places in the world to live in.
Now back to the overly expensive plastic crack if you don't mind.

Cheaper health care/insurance means more disposable income for things like Transformers.

OK, I'll concede the point. But not bumping the price up every time a new line of figures comes out would help too.

Oh, F**K. I dread the prices Hasbro will have for us this time.
I guess Deluxes will now cost 22 euros.

Big whoop. In a few years, we're going to be taxed for NOT having health care. Ignorance such as yours makes me quite happy you have to pay such high prices for toys.

The Canadian dollar is only .03 cents stronger than the American dollar. The Canadian and European governments tax their people and corporations so bad that the money has to come from somewhere. It ultimately trickles down to the consumer. This is why Americans have a hard time relating, because we aren't (yet) taxed to death. Not trying to be political it's just the truth and the way live goes.

Before I mistakenly upset someone let me put into perspective what I'm trying to say in my post above. The Europeans and Canadians seem to point the finger at Hasbro for "jacking up" prices. But that's not true. Hasbro sells their product for a certain amount to everyone. They don't charge more just because the country's name isn't USA.
The other countries charge more in taxes so the prices of the goods goes up to compensate. Hasbro isn't seeing that extra money. The government is. All I'm saying is, we need to quit acting like Hasbro is is wringing their hands with countries outside the USA. It isn't Hasbro causing the price hike. I hope i am being clear with what i'm saying without being offensive. It is not my intention to offend anyone.
Now, if Hasbro sells Costco TF's at $50 per case and next year the same $50 per case and the Canadian dollar increases in value, then yes, AT THAT POINT hasbro will get more money. But it isn't because the charge other countries more than the US.

Yeah, a lot of people like to think it's Hasbro that makes the price hikes, but it's actually import taxesa long with many other fines for distribution that jack up the price.
US customs has no tax on the import of toys. That's why they're cheaper here. I learned this with doing a low of overseas buying.

Toys R Us is extremely freaking expensive. Walmart is the cheapest place to buy ANYTHING.

I fail to see the ignorance in my post. If you're referring to my ignorance over your President's plans for the future of US healthcare I'll hold my hands up and say OK, I don't live in the US so it's no concern of mine and I feel no need to know or care about it. Thanks for your concern over my complaints about our shared hobby. The tone of your post makes me happy that when you need surgery to remove the stick from up your backside it'll cost you a bunch.

The problem is, is that when our dollar was was 0.80 American, the Deluxes were $13 Canadian. The dollar has no value in this, it's the fact that pricing are increasing because Hasbro is making it happen. No way in hell we go from $13 to $17 Deluxe based off of inflation.
I'm not complaining, I could really care less if I have to spend a dollar more, but whatever.
Buying DOTM toys is like Masturbation. It's fun at the start but then you realize you're just screwing yourself over.

Save yourself some money, bro.

Then do yourself a favor and get healthcare. If you're worried about the price, join the military. Bam, free healthcare(and LASIK if you need glasses) in the US.
National healthcare is NOT all the Liberals make it out to be and will result in even fewer people being motivated to become doctors(a profession with numbers already declining because the cost/benefit ration isn't high enough for 12+ years of schooling, often paid for through loans) due to the cap on salaries national healthcare imposes(there's a reason more and more foreign doctors are moving to America).
That said, insurance companies DO need to lower prices, but the bill that got passed is NOT the fix(it really makes things worse if you sit and read it).

What if I don't want health care? Obama's corrupt regime has no right to tax me for not giving a **** about my health.

Who needs surgery? ****. I'll tear that stick out with my bare hands and slap a Band-Aid in my ass. Problem solved.
