DOTM Powerglide = overrated

So I picked up DOTM Powerglide when I found him. hadn't seen him at retail and figured if I didn't act then I never would. I gotta say, I just don't understand the hype.
don't get me wrong, he's a cool little figure, but I don't think he's the end all of Powerglides as everyone is saying. I actually like the Universe one a lot more.
So why is everyone obsessed with this guy? Is it cause he's been shortpacked and is hard to find or is it the whole Neo G1 throwback? Personally, I feel that Universe Powerglide is the better of the 2 if you want a Classics one. This one is just something fun to fiddle with.
And man is he pricey. He cost as much as Scout class figures used to cost before the price hikes.

It grows on you. The more you look at it, the more you'll like it. However, the head needs a bit of a fixin, and Im working on a custom one as we speak.

He is scout sized. I can imagine that's why he's priced as such. I've got no problem paying that for him once I find one. So far, he's the only certain purchase for me from DOTM. Passed up Shockwave tonight. He's just...meh.

I love Powerglide. I grabbed him as soon as I saw him on the pegs. Don't regret it even a bit. The weapon sucks, it looks so doofy, but the figure itself is fantastic.

It's actually pretty easy to understand - while he isn't a full replica of the G1 Animation model he is still closer to the original G1 Toy that we got in the 80's than the Classics/Universe version, which for domestic release wasn't even close to the right color.
There's lot's about it I would fix but it's easier to love than all the other ugly crap the film is going to churn out - and until we get a full-on "mini" G1 Powerglide a la Windcharger it's probably about as close as we are ever going to get.
And for the record I DO prefer the Universe version - it never made much sense having a tiny rust/maroon red A10 back in the day (Ditto Warpath) but that's what we got, and that's what G1 purists are going to be after.

Yeah I spotted 2 at Target so I grabbed it just to have a good hard look. Its just not gonna be good for me! If I did have to choose between classics and dotm I will have to go with classics even though the scale for IMHO just wasn't right either in both modes. Maybe in a few more years the powers that be will get it right but for now, DOTM Powerglide is just a lot of hype...'nuff said!

I saw a bunch here at Walmart in Danbury, CT. Honestly I don't see what the hype is all about (I did not even know there was hype until I saw this thread). Alt mode looked okay, bot mode looked awful due to the face design. This figure was an easy pass.

He's on my must have list because he fits in better with my Legends Class figures based on the G1 minispies as opposed to the Ultra Class one we got.

Overrated?!?!?
Dude, have you READ the recent threads? There's at LEAST as many people grumping and griping about everything from the shape of his feet and his helmet sculpt to the entire "movie aesthetic and hard angles".
If he was overrated, there'd be no complaints and people would be raving FAR more than they are.

If I didn't already have a huge red G1 looking Powerglide, I would have bought this one. He is very G1 looking. But I passed on him because of his size.

His G1 Homage makes him overwhelming, as well as him being totally epic.

Don't get me wrong. I do like him, but with the way everyone was raving about him, I expected something a little more. Instead I got something that's about half the size of a Scout and a little bigger than a Legends.
The Transformation is unique and cool, but he just leaves something to be desired. I can't quite place it either.
Considering what I've already spent on DOTM toys, he'll probably be one of the few times I ventured into anything smaller than deluxe.

I just got him today. He's not bad. I just think they made the transform a little over complicated for the size.

I wish I had an opinion on this one. I've sifted through at least 100 Cyberverse figures in 5-6 stores and haven't seen him once!

By the way people were describing, I didnt expect to find him as easily as i did; he was on the end of the peg just hangin' there! While hes not incredible, it is nice to have a Powerglide in this scale to put with the other G1 minibots. His gun is retarded though

I think he may seem overrated due to the number of Classics collectors who don't want to collect movie toys finding something from the movie that fits so well with their collection; but thats just my $0.02.

Guilty. I got him for his G1 appeal. I'm otherwise completely uninterested in the Cyberverse line.
I am a little underwhelmed. When we saw the initial pictures of Cyberverse Powerglide, I'd hoped he'd be at least Scout size. And, yes, the transformation is nothing special; but, it's hard to be very sophisticated on a figure this size.
I wouldn't go so far as to say he's a disappointment; but I certainly wouldn't have picked him up if he weren't a G1 character.

Man, I have seen at least 30 of them in the last week. Don't waste your time, he is lame. I mean, he is a Bayformer mold. You can surely tell this from his robot mode too. Stick with Ultra Powerglide. It is stupid he was a minibot anyhow as he is a freaking plane!!

Sounds more like Bayformer bias rather than dislike of the mold itself.

Ultra Powerglide wins all over this thing. (I need a smilie with a more disapproving look to it.)

There we go.

I just can't get into Ultra Powerglide's Tig 'ol Bitties

While I'll admit the commander class may not be for some that like the larger versions
I really prefer the smaller scaled Powerglide. He is a better throwback to his G1 persona and doesn't take up a shelf all to himself.

Just needs some tassels on them and when you press the button they twirl!! Talking about distracting some Decepticons!

Gives "The Girl Who Loved Powerglide" a whole new meaning.
