I'm itching to buy a Megatron... but which one?

So, I've realized that there is a huge hole in my newer TFs collection; no Megatron! I do have Galvatron represented but more and more I really want 'ol buckethead to have a place on my shelf as his original identity. So here's the thing; I collect both movie and cartoon based TFs, so I'm not sure what Megatron to buy. DOTM Voyager Megatron would provide a great nemesis to my ROTF Voyager Prime figure, and my Movie Decepticons are sorely lacking in leadership. However, Cybertronian Megatron is all kinds of awesome, cheaper, and an overall better fig IMHO, but he seems a touch redundant (although much better engineered) beside my Universe Galvatron.

My Cartoon collection is larger than the movie one, and is fairly well balanced in numbers between Autobot and Decepticon. My little movie Collection is slightly weighted in the Autobots' favor and missing a leader for the 'Cons - and I'd really like to fill that gap.

So, the kid in me wants Cybertronian Megatron, but the collector wants DOTM Voyager Megatron. I have limited space+cash so I don't want both... please give me some advice on which way to lean! Thanks! :CON:

EDIT: Futile dream or not, I'm also kinda hoping that down the road, Cyber Megs would get a re-paint/tool as Galvatron, which I could then replace my Uni Galvatron with... but I wouldn't really want two of the same mold in this case... just a side note since I doubt it would ever happen.

I assume you're referring to WFC Megatron above... They're actually both nice figures (I'm rather surprised DOTM's doesn't suck,) but when it comes to looks, WFC Megatron wins everyday of the week and twice on Super Tuesdays. DOTM Megatron is a bit ugly and has a terrible looking head...bordering on Skids and Mudflap bad.

As much as I love my WFC Megs, I currently like the DotM Megatron a whole lot better. It is probably THE best Megatron mold from any of the recent movies.

dont overlook Takara's United Megatron. the mold is great and the paintjob matches the old cartoon very well. plus he transforms into a gun, something that only the RTS Legends class Megatron can also boast in this years batch

I always highly reccomend Revoltech Megatron. Some people consider these glorified action masters, but he's such a solid figure, he represents megatron very well. He looks a bit short next to deluxe decepticons, but I think he fits in well enough.

DOTM Megatron is the better choice, especially when your movie decepticons are missing their rightful leader..

There was never a Titanium G2 Megs. The only two Megs's in the Titanium series were GI Joe Crossover and War Within.

Only one? :-? I will go for classics/henkei/united Megatron, but you have to get them online. Both WFC and DOTM Megs are still available at retails, though. If only between those two. Another :-? . I might lean toward DOTM voyager since you already have a voyager movie Prime.

Are you talking about him? It happened. ;)

I vote for WFC Megatron, because he looks more like Megatron should. Both him and DOTM Voyager Megs are pretty good figures, but the DOTM one just doesn't look that much like Megatron.

However, if you really want a leader for your Movie 'Cons, go for DOTM Megatron. He is the best Movieverse Megatron released so far.

Wow, that is awesome.

Well, I think I'm leaning towards DOTM Megs, just to have a Movie 'Con leader...

I would probably say WFC megatron just becuse of the excellent detailing and upgrade look of his G1 self.

I sounds like DotM voyager Megatron is needed. I haven't opened mine yet but I know he's a bit shorter than RotF Prime. I don't know how the vehicle modes compare scale-wise but I think they'd look good together in bot modes.

Okay, I'm now the proud owner of a DOTM Voyager Megs. Haven't transformed him or sized him up against Optimus yet, but I'm quite pleased with the figure. The Fusion Cannon looks awesome extended, and the cowel is a cool look. However, I do have one problem - the color palette could use some work. He just seems to dull, and the fact that his cannon and forearms are the same colour and that his tarp/cape us the same as 90% of his body kinda looks too blended.

Either way, wicked figure, very articulated, and I can't wait to see him in the movie!

Thanks for all the help and opinions!

True, he is bland. I'm so looking forward to painting him!

Be sure to post the results, perhaps they will inspire me! :D

I finally transformed him into truck mode, and man is he a (understandably) small truck! The ROTF Voyager Prime stands a bit taller than him in Robot mode, so they match up well that way, but as vehicles it's a bit tougher to ignore. However, I'm not too obsessed with scale and will probably be displaying Megs in robot mode 90% of the time anyway, so...

One other thing that bugs me about this figure (and movie-verse figs in general) is that they go really skimpy with the faction logos. This Megs has a small 'con logo on his right side behind the window in truck mode, but you'll likely never see it in robot mode. I know it's not just Megs that has this fault and it's part of the movie aesthetic, but still somewhat disappointing.

Oh, one last bonus... the "trailer" actually swivels on the fifth wheel... completely unnecessary but a very nice touch, as are the "MACK" truck grill and bulldog hood ornament. Very cool indeed!

Wow, that is truly awesome..........

I would go with WFC Megs too. DOTM Megs is kool, but WFC is better. Speaking of Megs, when is the Prime line coming out? I like the way that Megs looks too, plus he could make a kool looking Galvatron repaint, in my opinion.....
