hi,
I am starting up this thread as I have collecting Transformers for many years both boxed and unboxed.
I recently noticed alot of the Loose transformers are going for what i would expect ot pay boxed such as:
pretender bludgeon
Pretender Thunderwing
TM Cyclonus/scourge
I always try and get boxed Transformers but they are becoming the same price as loose. Also you gain an advantage if you buy a bulk lot of loose transformer toys instead of one single boxed. Has anyone else noticed this?
I have got a lot of boxed transformers. Does anyone feel it would be more economic value to sell of some of these and buy only loose ones or even use them to buy a some of there more expensive boxed Transformers? I want to get Fortress maximus boxed by the end of the year bt as cheaply as possible.

If i can find a figure I am looking for, it doesn't matter to me if it is boxed. I am going to open it and play with it.
If you are planning on reselling what you buy, I guess they are worth more in the box.

How much are you seeing loose Bludgeon and Thunderwing going for? (Only curious because I have those)

Keep the boxes for figures you have. You'll regret selling them and the chance of you finding the box on its own is much rarer than getting the figure MIB.

both bludgeon & thunderwing pretender goes for around $150-£200 my advice keep them. I'm only asking cause sometimes the boxed ones go for less then the loose ones i have seen this happen on EBay several times e.g. THunderwing boxed i saw went for £90 yet a loose one for almost twice as much.

I don't care much about the box. Sure, it's nice to admire it in the packaging before opening it and knowing you're the first to play with it but If I hunt down an old figure I don't mind if there's no box to take up space in my attic.

Vintage TFs and if the box is decent and not torn to hell keep it! But its always a great thing being the first to grip that untouched TF right out of the box!

On EBay you have to take into account marketing conditions e.g. bad time to sell in summer, or in the afternoon even on weekends. I mainly sell from 8PM onwards and always for either 7 or 10 days.
I picked up an incredibly cheap TM quake on ebay once for £2 with both targetmasters only missing the little gun. I also once got a boxed Crossblades for £30 in very good condition.
I'm also getting the Fansproject Crossfire/munitioner add on kits MISB from my Local transformer store.

Hi guys, I have noticed the very same thing on ebay when it comes to loose figures and misb ones.I try to buy new figures simply for the fact that the joints would be tighter and betetr condition since i treat everything good.
As far as keeping the boxes, if you have space than i recommend it.I usually buy two of everything anyways one for display and one for playing.

Yesteray i got a Masterpiece grimlock and i was so impressed with how it looked, I decided not to open it ever. It was £59.99 not too bad.
I personally prefer boxed if it is affordable and reasonable only occasionally will I spend more on loose TFs.
For example I refuse to buy the Botcon Dreadwind loose it is over £200 which is insane and you can make one which is far better quality for far less.
I also find that Optimus prime can also be very cheap on EBay even being very popular. The problem i have with boxed transformers is they are large and difficult to find space for, and loose ones i find i break easily for some reason so i keep them locked away from me.
